Missed Opportunity - Lack of End Credit Scene

If there were an end credit scene, I would just want a hint to the next villain.

But maybe they didn't have one because they didn't know if a sequel would be underway?
exactly. they have no confidence in Superman after SR.

the main reason they did this movie simply because of the law suit case. they wanna milk the last drop of coin.

This whole end credit thing is getting a little silly. I honestly almost feel if that clark daily planet scene was placed at the end of the credits instead, some people would somehow be happier?

The whole current end credit scene "craze" was started by marvel solely to help piece together their avengers initiative for the audiences and has gone on from there.

It is a pure Marvel films aspect let them have it. We never had any end credits at the of the TDKR trilogy and that worked fine. If the film has something to say say it in the film. There were plenty of teases in MOS that you didn't have to wait 10 mins of credit for.

I'm so glad DC didn't feel the need to do what Marvel have been doing, it works well within the Marvel films, I just don't feel the need to see it in every comic adaptation that comes out now.

End credit scenes I can actually say were well worth the wait when I sat down in theaters:

POTC3: Will returns to shore, and meets his wife and child.

Thor: Loki survives, eyes the Tesseract.

The thing is, most stingers would work just as well at the regular end of the movie. If you know the end credits scene is coming, you're going to be disappointed if its kind of lame, like IM3's. But if you don't know it's coming, or if it interrupts the credits pretty quickly, it manages to maintain some of that magic from your first few views.

The best hooks are the ones they mean for everyone to see, not just the geeks. For instance:

Back to the Future II: "No, Doc, I'm back from the future!" "...Great Scott!"

POTC2: "So tell me, what's become of my ship? Hahahaha!"

Avengers: (Mid Credits) THANOS!

Batman Begins: Joker Card.

The drone scene would have been a great end credits or mid credits stinger. lol

Well, DC did attempt a (mid) credits scene with Green Lantern. But they caught so much flack for that scene (as well as the film in general) maybe they just thought it was better to do what worked for them in the Dark Knight trilogy.

Hahahaha no just no

Enough with the missed opportunity. I'm not a fan of post credit sequences anyway. Every film does it these days and it's totally pointless, not to mention, annoying. Why not show the scene at the very end before the credits start?

Man Of Steel ended perfectly and appropriately and did not need anything thrown on the end of it.

I don't care that there wasn't an end credits scene. I find most end credits scenes to be "meh" anyways.

Now I think about it, maybe the end credit scene can be a collage of Daily Planet newspapers showing superman doing various saving deeds and the people reaction; fear, anxious, asking government to nail him down, excited, grateful etc. following with the line ”my father believe that when people find out who I am, they will reject me out of fear… what do you think?”
I think it can make a powerful ending.

It can be a prequel for MOS 2 too. :D

Too many loose ends needed to be tied up! They should have had a scene.....

I liked the ending the way it was.

Unless they had creatively knew where they were taking the movie next, then I don't see the point in doing it and it does seem like a Marvel stamp now anyway.

I'm really happy there was no end credit scene. Honestly, the entire thing has become a gimmick and it would just scream too much of Marvel. Not only was it not necessary in MOS but it also helped the movie stand on its own as opposed to being just a JL promo.

I like post credits scenes a lot. I sat through the end credits because I was expecting one. They're a very effective way of getting people psyched up for future films when you are planning to do sequels. And even when they don't hint at sequels and they're just one last gag or cool little scene, I still love them. They're fun.

Thank you!!

They work! They did it in Green Lantern. But they screwed that up........they have to be done right or not at all.

Don't you think that a great ending could do the exact same? Batman Begins, for example?

Last time I was seeing IM3 and was forced to stay and see a post credit scene. I was so pissed.
