I've been doing my best to avoid all the pre-release hype, even the TV spots.

But even I noticed two scenes from the Trailer that were missing in the final film.

1. The scene where Pepper and Tony are at the back of the plane, and where she throws his helmet out is completely missing.

2. The scene where Tony and Rhodey completely suited up surrounded by all the drones, where Tony says something like "Ready for this?" is missing. The scene is there, they just don't have that moment, and it cuts straight into the fight, so it does look it is missing.

Anybody notice anything else?

3 Natasha wearing TOny´s glove and firing ain´t in the movie.

After watching Iron Man 2, I realized (like all of us, who watched trailers/tv-spots/read some stuff and novels), that there are some scenes missing in the movie.

Yes, Jon Favreau said (at a press conference in Los Angeles) that there are 30 minutes of deleted scenes, which we will see on DVD (released in November). I decided to make a clear analysis on what've been missing. So here it is:

Scene # 1 - Tony Stark's arrival at Stark Expo.

In the movie, everything is completely different (the second version of this scene), but in the original version (you can see it in the first trailer) looked better.

According to the novel, Pepper and Tony are in plane flying over Stark Expo. Tony has a hangover. Pepper offers him Midol, but Tony refuses and drinks Red Bull with vodka, then it comes to the famous "you complete me" moment from the first trailer. And only then, everything goes according to the final version of the movie - Stark arrives at the show and tells people about his future plans.

Scene # 2 - Stark is working on a new technology with J.A.R.V.I.S.

According to the early draft/novel/interviews/footages, Tony is considering the option of using non-metallic polymers. In theory, the new armor can be generated on the fly, using the device to change the properties of any substance at the command of user. This device is invented by Tony, and it's called the Tech-Ball.

Tony decides to leave it only for personal use. Meanwhile, Pepper goes to Tony in the workshop to talk about the boy scouts deal - actual scene from the movie. After Pepper's question, Stark responds: "Think faster" and throws his Tech-Ball to her, she tries to catch it, but it disappears from her hand (This whole moment is captured at 1:36 - in this video).

Scene # 3 - Tony Stark's birthday party.

Pepper arrives at ony's house and sees the whole mess. Tony puts his repulsor glove, connected to his RT, on Natalie's hand and together they make the shot that destroys an ice sculpture of the Iron Man (This moment was captured at 00:42 in this video and in this still). Pepper is disappointed. Tony helps some blondes, according to the draft/novel, hover in the air with his flying boots. Pepper asks Rhodey to talk with Tony.

Rhodey is wondering: why Tony shares his technology with some drunk girls, but doesn't shares it wit the military?, Stark's response is: "You're absolutely right!" and takes one of the girls to his bedroom.

45 minutes later, Tony in the Mark IV Armor does everything that you saw in the movie. At the same time, Natasha secretly calls Nick Fury and says: "Should move in now! He's vulnerable!" (That moment was perfectly captured in this still).

Scene # 4 - The final battle nside Stark Expo.

Pepper and Natasha are watching the presentation of Justin Hammer's drones and War Machine. Stark calls Natasha and says that Ivan is inside Hammer Industries. Black Widow, under the order of Nick Fury, will have to close Stark Expo for security purposes. Natasha goes with Happy Hogan to Hammer's company - that scene is in the movie.

Meanwhile, Ivan manages to get out from the building with his new armor. He comes to Expo and kidnaps Pepper. Then, he sends the video of captured Pepper to Stark. Tony tries to rescue her.

The end of the film would have been completely different, but in brief: Rhodey kills Ivan and SHIELD agents took Hammer with them. Pepper and Tony are still together, she quits her position in SI and Rhodey takes the War Machine Armor to himself, because he feels guilty in what happened recently and decides to hide the suit somewhere safe.

Some comic spots and references, which weren't used in the movie:

* In the movie, Tony Stark is creating a brand new element, but we don't get a name of the element from him. According to the draft/novel - it is Vibranium - the most powerful metal in Marvel Universe. Used and created (in comics) in Wakanda.

* In the novel, Ivan Vanko asks "Ten Rings" for help, meeting with the Mongolian (while receiving the pass to Monaco - this scene is in the movie). Another scene with the Ten Rings' involvment is the escape of Ivan from the prison by corrupted guard (he has a TR tatoo on his neck - but we don't see this neck tatoo in the movie).

* Originally (according to draft/novel), Pepper disabled Vanko's armor, using the Tech-Ball.

* Originally, after the scene in court, Pepper invites Rhodey to fly with them on the plane.

* Actually, in the final battle, "Hammer's former wife (a mini-rocket)" was going to destroy Whiplash' armor, but gladly - they've changed this moment.

So the DVD/Blu-Ray release may be an extended cut of the film, instead of the Theatrical cut?

I did feel that, as much as I loved the film, some scenes felt out of place. Maybe, if they do release these deleted scenes on DVD/Blu-Ray it may be a better film (I loved the film don't get me wrong, I'm thinking Watchmen though. Great film, better Directors Cut).

Well that third picture might be for any specific deleted scene.

There was no tech ball thing in the movie that was really explicitly like a techball thing.

It seems like the first movie they CHANGED existing scenes rather than cut entire scenes.

In the first movie they had it so Rhodey didn't interfere in the final battle.

In this movie, they have Tony in full Iron Man armor jumping out of the plane instead of Pepper tossing the helmet followed by Stark jumping out.

In this movie, there's no Tony Stark messing around with Scarlett with the gloves or boots but instead
Tony is moping around his office and asks Romanoff for advice on what he should do if it was his last birthday ever. She says something like party as hard as I can and then Tony goes out and starts getting drunk and messing around in the suit before Rhodey arrives and sees the behavior and puts on the Mark II suit.

I hope the DVD/Blu-Ray is an extended cut with the scenes put into the movie instead of them being a seperate special feature.

RealIrOnMaN you are the closest thing to God right now.

BTW, is there a scene revealing HOW Rhodes managed to, you know, get inside you know what?

I would have liked the scenes referencing The Ten Rings to have stayed.

Wasn't the explanation is the Donut shop scene where Tony is saying the Rhodey took the suit and Natasha says that according to Stark Industries they have things in place so no one can steal the suits and Stark gives her a look.

I took that as Tony 'said' he had fail safes to prevent them being stolen but in truth he was so narcissistic he thought no one would be able to take them.

Therefore Rhodey knowing all the codes to get in and knowing JARVIS simply could walk in and put the suit on just as easy as Tony could.

The scenes(Ten Rings),got deleted. Way to go John, way,to go.

I think the implication is that Rhodey had access to all the codes and/or fail safe. Earlier in the movie he enters a code to get access to Stark's lab when Stark is getting woozy from his sickness. So the implication clearly is that Stark trusts Rhodey implicitly and gives him access to everything.

And just keep in mind there's precedence for this in the comics Rhodey being a constant confidante and trusted member of Stark's entourage and Stark even having Rhodey fill in for him as Iron Man. All that happened before Rhodey became War Machine in the comics.

30 minutes deleted!? Hope we get an extended cut on dvd...

I doubt it Ipodman.

Some of the deleted footage are just alternate versions of existing scenes in the movie meaning they would not have as much of a place in the extended cut.

The Ghostface cameo for example for the first movie narratively no longer works with how the plot of the first movie evolved.

Also just remember guys this not a gutted Fox special. This a full length 2 hour movie.

Well... I bet at least the scene of Tony teaching Natasha how to use the Iron man glove should be edited in....

Nope. The watch scene effectively replaces that whole prior aspect of the party.

No idea when the absolute final cut of the film was ready and when all the trailers and tv spots were made, but if any of the scenes was included in the trailers or spots when it was already known that the particular scene was cut from the film, it would be very, very lame. The first trailer was released quite early, so that I can understand but the second one and all the tv spots...?

I guess generally this happens with trailers quite often but usually I don't watch the trailers "hundred times", so I don't even remember the possibly missing scenes but now it is so obvious.

My favorite two moments of the trailer were not in the film:

1) Pepper kissing his mask and throwing it out before Tony says, "You complete me."

2) ScarJo firing his glove.

Those moments made me grin and seemed like perfect Favreau and co. wit. I have no idea why they were cut, but it was a bad decision.

I'm glad that was cut after having watched the movie. She's a pretty serious, all business kind of woman. Which is of course because she's sent there to watch over him.

I'm glad that...after I was absolutely trashed in this forum for hating that "you complete me" scene...the studio and director agreed with em and got rid of it.

I just think that the initial scene between Pepper and Iron Man in the plan where she kisses the helmet was cut was due to the fact that the whole film sort of builds up to these two finally getting together. With that scene reintroducing the two characters, it gives the implication that these two are already in the relationship that the whole film leads to.
