its the damn movie industry, just because they put scenes in a trailer doesn't mean they have to be in the film.

Its the damn audience. Just because the movie studios decide to pick certain takes over the ones in the trailer doesn't mean the people watching the movie have to like it.

How do you know it was cut short?

According to James McAvoy scenes he mentions that were cut

A action sequence in which Charles and Erik fight a 7ft tall guy. (could possibly be a recruiting scene or in the Russian Mansion Mission)

In the club when recruiting Angel she asks Charles what he can do and Charles makes a man appear to be dressed as a women (Fox didn't like the scene)

According to Mathew Vaughn he cut the romance subplot between Charles and Moria.

I wondered how Erik and Charles both ended up arriving to the room with the Military general and Emma at the same time and why Erik looked so tired and fatigued during that scene.

i kinda wish the Moira/Charles romance was a little more prevalent. not over the top per se but at least to make the kiss at the end a little more reasonable? i dont think i worded that right

I think it would be great to give Charles more character development that is not related to Erik. No need for their relationship to go all lovey-dovey, but instead to show this connection between the two of them starting to develop. After all, Moira represents that idea of mutants/humans integration that Charles prizes so much.

It would make for the last scene even more bittersweet (and without hair jokes!), since he would basically erase the memory of their love alongside the memories of the school and everything that happened.

But I really hope Moira will find her way back to the school, and to Charles

How do you know it was cut short?

One of the TV Spots had Xavier saying, "guide it, shape it.... Lead it".


That was not in the final film. But, I'm kind of glad, because I don't see Xavier as a man who wanted to LEAD the mutant race, but as a man who simply wanted to guide them towards a peaceful co-existance with mankind.

I bet that was the reason it was taken out...

Oh c'mon, it's not exclusive to X-Men movies and you know it.

Hey, it happens all the time, though. Scenes get cut. What you see in a tv spot or a trailer, doesn't always make it into the final movie. It sucks, but it happens very frequently. I say blame the MPAA..

I probably only notice it with the X-Men movies because for no other movies do I study trailers, TV spots, and the movies themselves so incredibly in depth as I do the X-Men movies. This is, by far, my most watched series of movies, and when I'm really on an X-Men kick I'll go through and watch all the trailers and promo materials I have for the movies too. There's no other series of movies that I come remotely close to that with.

Might be right. Lucas mentioned there was a backstory for Havok where he was protecting his foster sister.

If you are talking about the scenes like the one between Storm and Rogue, where Rogue explains to Storm that she's been on the run for months, and is at the school because she thinks Xavier can "cure" her and Storm tells her "it doesn't work like that", the additional scenes that build upon Rogue and Iceman, or the extended bedroom scene between Logan and Scott, then yea.

For X1, there's a lot of other footage that was cut that we all have no idea about.

There's the deleted scenes, and there are also some great scenes that you can kinda see from b-footage on the X1 BTS stuff on the dvd. And a ton of other stuff we'll never see.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the extended scene where soon after Angel, Riptide and Azazel teleport into the Russian war room, they go up to the map and they exchange a dialogue to which Angel seems pensive about. She is looking at the map of Cuba, presumably because she's actually Cuban.

I think it was the only time Riptide talked. Ha ha.

Does anybody know what Havok was aiming for outside the mansion?

It kinda annoys me that they felt that they had to trim some of these supporting character's 'backstories' in favour of the central story.

Oh, and about the Banshee's first flying attempt and the reaction. If you look closely, that WAS in the film, just in a faraway shot. You still see them laughing, or at least get the idea that they are. You can still tell either way that Erik is laughing...

There are always a lot of deleted scenes, but it's a question of whether the studio will spend money re-editing the movie...

Fox did it with Daredevil and also with Fantastic Four, but have never yet done so with the X-Men films. Unfortunately!

Havok's reason for being in jail is in the B-Roll II .. the prison ..guy? says Alex was protecting his foster sister and the guy was burned into ash and needed to be identified through dental records ..

There also seems to be longer takes like when Emma and Colonel Hendry go into the booth at the Hellfire Club, Shaw asking Emma if she wants another glass of champagne after Azazel teleport Colonel Hendry away, Riptide twirling his fingers when approaching the Russian General along with Angel and Azazel, The remaining boys throwing a football in the background during the final scene of Xavier and Moira outside the mansion (although Beast is in his training outfit, not blue), maybe a rehearsal?, Angel having a line when she and Shaw toast to WWIII in the sub ..

Ah, what did Angel say? I thought that, while Emma Frost was incarcerated, it was a nice 'mirror scene' of where Emma used to sit by; Angel now had replaced the latter as Shaw's right hand henchwoman.
