I just got back from watching Mi:III, (and taking the girlfriend home/plus driving an hour to get home) and i'll say this, Mi:III is fantastic!!!

The movie holds up on ACTION ALONE, much less great performances from the likes of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Billy Crudup, and actually Tom Cruise doesn't do too bad when it comes to the intensely emotional scenes...but the ACTION!!! OMG, it is IN-TENSE! I highly recommend it for the theater experience alone.

Haha, I'm not unforgiving, but his overexposure does distract, even though I didn't want it to.

I want to take a second to break down the sound, but not in any detail that will give anything away. I just want to say that this SHOULD be a lock for a Best Sound Academy Award! It was Phenomenal...as well the editing had a kinetic pace that completely drove the movie.

...An excellent third installment that DEFINITELY raises the bar for the MI series or any threepeat movie. You can tell J.J. Abrams had his hands ALL OVER THIS. All of his signiture stamps, plus a few new tricks, plus a well-played omage to the original TV show... Well done summer movie.

Fun film. Not the great movie red and weeny are fawning over at AICN, but fun. I really wanted Simon Pegg to say, turn left, no your other left. Truman Capote ruled. Lots of tight claustrophobic shots. Put me in the mood for more fast paced espionage. What's in this Netflix envelope? 24 season 2 disc 1. Goodie.

Yeah, it was very clear to see that this was a JJ Abrams spy flick. The only thing I think that would've made it better is if it played out more like the television show and didn't focus on the one character, developed a great team w/ a great group dynamic, and didn't rely on a love story. The show was never really about that (for the most part).

I really didn't like that film. As a fledgling filmmaker, it made me a bit queasy.

The entire Vatican sequence, the whole thing just was gushing from that feeling the old Mission: Impossible show had in abundance. Just an extraordinary scene that made me really have hope for the franchise and gave me the feeling that maybe Tom Cruise wasn't out to completely destroy what the show was about. The mask creation, the scene in the bathroom, blowing the car up to make them think...you know what ... Perfection!

The expression Lindsey had when that thing happened to her in the helicopter , just one of the most haunting moments I've had at the cinema in a looong time...

Benji Dunn/Simon Pegg obviously takes the cake, with Ving in a close second! Keri Russell did some amazing work in this too, which makes me want to see more diverse stuff in her career.

The scene with Cruise Evading the Jet on the Bridge sorta reminded me of a similar situation in MGS2 when Raiden Has to take on the Harrier on a bridge as well.

I just thought it was kind of cheap to rehash himself like that.

And it just drove home to me more that this is just a big budget Alias episode starring Tom Cruise since it has the same basic set-up and ENDING as Alias does.

That´s EXACTLY what I was afraid of, and what I read in most reviews. What the choice of Abrams implied to me was to see a MI movie with more characterization, better dialogue, something less flash and bang than the two previous movies. I think that´s why MI III isn´t opening as big as industry expectations. If you look back, it´s a pretty frivolous franchise.
