Fantasy Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to return for new ‘Mummy’ film

Fans of this franchise also need to be kind to Fraser given the role it played in his physical hardships. The stunts from The Mummy films caused a lot of wear and tear and he suffered from chronic pain and had to undergo serious back surgeries and I believe a knee replacement.

All of those things make it hard for one to keep fit and being laid up so long makes weight gain a certainty.
Absolutely agree, and hope my message didn't come off as rude towards Fraser, he put everything into his performances and it took a toll.

Not at all, just the mention of a personal trainer reminded me that he probably has some physical limitations, so people shouldn't expect some dramatic Hollywood transformation much beyond his current weight loss.

Rick was never really protrayed as "built" either, so him looking like a fairly fit guy who has probably still gone on adventures is really all he needs appearence wise anyway.

It’s interesting if they keep the chronological time this movie will probably be set around 1956. Very different time and aesthetic

IIRC, Brendan was sexually harassed by a male exec that turned around and blackballed him later in his career.

With all the science and advantages Fraser should be able to get back into shape.

I remember only watching the first episode of the cartoon when they did a showcase of it on Cartoon Network. I think they pretty much recycled plot points from the movie and did their own thing.

Yeah I’m not expecting full rated R horror, but 99 had a decent amount of horror that scared me as a kid. Just hope they go more with that tone than the second one.
With Radio Silence behind this I'm thinking this will probably lean on the horror elements more than any other movie in the series did.

That's not exactly how it works after a certain age, especially when it comes to spinal and nerve injuries like Fraser has. Certain damage is irreversible, no matter how much money and access you have.

I'm just happy for Fraser he is in the shape he now is. Anything more is gravy.

I don’t know the extent of his injuries, but if he can jog at all, even slowly, and get on a diet of chicken and rice (safely) he can look 40 again.

The guy is just a couple years away from 60. He is never going to look 40 again. Chicken and rice doesn't do that. Even Harrison Ford, who was a health nut and seemed to stop aging for a decade in the 1980s, had age catch up with him when he entered his 50s in the 1990s.

Frazer already lost a ton of weight in the last couple years and seems to be back at a relatively healthy weight. Once again, expecting anything dramatic beyond that is not realistic.

He is absolutely not going to be able to get into the shape the requires the diet you are mentioning.
