Moon Knight

If Moon Knight ended up getting his own TV Show, what do you think of having Damon Lindelof as the showrunner? He did a great job on The Leftovers and that was one of the weirdest shows I have ever watched, so that made me think of Moon Knight. :woot:

I was thinking David Lynch.

Also, when it comes to Moon Knight, there wouldn't be much CGI needed but there are a few things that would be pretty costly.

A. Helicopter

B. Wheelchair

C. Car and a taxi paintjob

D. Khonshu statue

Sam Esmail (MR. ROBOT) would DESTROY IT. Mr. RObot looks like a movie, the cinematography and his hallucinations scenes would be a perfect fit for Moon Knight.

Ah, Mr. Robot! I should give that show another chance. I watched the first couple of episodes, but it didn't really grab me. Interesting video though. And the David Lynch suggestion reminds me that I should really finish Twin Peaks.

Confirmed that Marvel and Star Wars will be leaving Netflix in 2019. How will this affect the odds of Moon Knight happening?

It's hard to foresee what this means for the future of the Marvel Netflix TV shows.

Iger says they want to make original movies and TV shows for the service.

My main worry is that Iron Fist Season 2 will be the last Marvel Netflix series and these characters won't be part of the MCU going forward. No new Netflix series and no future seasons regardless or ratings. Disney will completely sever ties and from there also cancel the Fox TV shows as well like Legion so they can have complete control over live action properties.

It doesn't matter how much Marvel profit off of the series, what matters is control of IP. They'll effectively end partnerships and do everything in house in the same way that there is no merchandise for X-Men or Fantastic Four characters anymore.

Well we know they won't stop making Marvel TV shows. We just don't know what this exactly means for the Netflix Marvel TV shows.

Disney needed to make a deal for the Fox shows to happen, but I really, really doubt it was set up in such a way that they could cancel them whenever they feel like it. That would represent too much of a risk for Fox.

I honestly would rather see Moon Knight get a Movie in which they could give it a bigger budget. Inhumans, Iron Fist, and the other Marvel shows look cheap especially in comparison to the films. I also would rather watch a good 2 hour Mk film than a 13 episode series that goes on forever with too much chit chat and not much action.

I don't think a Moon Knight movie would give us near as great an exploration of that character as a TV show would

Yeah Marvel and Disney have made clear they have no plans to make an R-rated movie anytime soon. Not that Moon Knight needs to be R-rated but you can do a lot more with this darker unhinged character with a TV-MA series.

I don't think Netflix is going to get a Moon Knight show. However, I don't think this is because all the Netflix Marvel shows are going away. Moon Knight is as likely to come to Netflix as it was before. . . which was "not very". I have yet to see any evidence that anyone at Marvel, Disney, or Netflix *ever* was planning to make a Moon Knight show.

I think it should be a TV show, and it should be the Netflix variety because those are the only Marvel shows one would describe as dark, gritty, and adult. They are all rated TV MA.

James Gunn wants a Moon Knight movie and apparently made a pitch to Marvel for one. So there's that. I just think a movie would water down the character too much and take away some of his edgier elements.

You're going to need new characters and properties to adapt at some point. Moon Knight's one of them that would adapt very well to TV because of all the psychological aspects.

There's never been anything official that Moon Knight is in the works, but something with him is bound to happen at some point.

That's big irony of the MPAA. An R rated film is a risky thing to do, but you can easily do TV-MA on Netflix or what have you and make something fantastic without being shackled by any kind of censorship.

Moon Knight needs an episodic approach. His big "thing" when you really get down to it is his busted psyche. You need the time a tv series takes to really explore it all.

That's why we are seeing a lot more edgy, daring and experimental things on TV of late. Creatively, you can do a lot more now without being constrained by censors and audience size of a major film release.

And yeah I don't think a 145 to 2 hour film can really explore all those weird aspects of Moon Knight's psyche either as you say. Even if James Gunn believes it can be done.

I don't think Netflix is planning on anymore series until the current shows reach their conclusions. So if Daredevil reaches it's final season then they'll look at what characters they can make a new show with.

How about a TV series produced by James Gunn? He's already working on a Starsky & Hutch show.

You can definitely do a great job exploring that in a movie. A series just allows you to go more in depth and add more twists and turns. It can be done. I also don't think Moon Knight needs to be R or TV-MA to be interesting and well done. Not saying it shouldn't just that it doesn't have to be, you can get away with a lot these days.

Yeah you can. But Marvel isn't going to try and push the envelope in that way. I'm not saying they should. But we know they like to keep the MCU films at a certain level and tone.

I don't think that Moon Knight fits into the MCU films. The films are Avengers and cosmic properties + Spider-Man. He's more of a Netflix hero.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see Moon Knight in an Avengers film though. It'd be interesting to have that hero on the team who's perfectly willing to go a step too far.

You see I'm not opposed to this either. But one would imagine, a guy like that wouldn't last very long, and the Avengers would just kick him to the curb. Or this.

Highly doubt Cap would tolerate him cutting off peoples' faces either.

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing Marvel tackle this romance onscreen. It would drive audiences insane :D

I know it's assuming quite a lot, but I'd assume they'd just translate the formula over to their own streaming service.

Yeah but would they still be OK with having the adult TV-MA stuff on the streaming service?
