:D

from what it sounds like from over at iesb boards, it sounds as if this story could be a sequel for batman begins and that the third villain is "right under our noses" and the revelation will crush batman emotionally i guess. So i for one dont like the idea that it is treading grounds of the bb universe. so who the heck could be this third villain of "empire" twist perportions?

As long as the third villain ain't Joker or any Al Ghul's i'll be somewhat content.

the guy said it was not the joker or earl, but its someone pulling ra's strings also, along with maxwell lord. apparently they want revenge against the bat.

*The big reveal in the third act. The real mastermind behind Maxwell Lord*

Lois: Bruce I did all this because you didn't call me back after we did "it"

Superman: What?

Bruce: Oh come on, it's a one night stand. And Clark go save someone or pick up something heavy.

Superman: Bruce, how dare you

Bruce: Because I'm Batman

Diana: Now now boys, lets not get into a fight.

Superman: You know how it feeeeeeels to get cheated, I don't understand what women see in a jerk like Bruce.

Diana: Well it's shameful of Bruce...

Bruce: That's not what you said last Friday.

Diana: errr ummm... I don't know what you.....

Bruce: "oh Bruce do the Lasso thing again, do the Lasso thing again"

*Proceed to the big fight sequence between the big three as cited by IESB*

:D :D

Do we know for sure that this is all legit? This sounds pretty good. Too good to be true, in fact.

Yep, you nailed it. That's the reveal.

Is Talia in the movie ? My guess Bruce & Talia would be dating & somewhere along the line she secretly finds out that Bruce is Batman & she uses his own technology & secret against him. That would crush Bruce.

as much as i want balls to the wall action, and it sounds like this script gets right to it, it has like 3-4 things i'm not down with

1) starting the story in the 2nd/3rd act

i HATE it when movies that, b/c it's a cheap way to build tension. few movies do it right, i'm thinking pulp fiction/usual suspects, but most fail at it

2) no need for paranoid late 90s bat-dickery. he doesn't have to be so damn suspicious early on. save it for when the league does something to question his trust (it's waaaaay too early for OMAC/Babel stuff)

3) i know batman is the most popular hero WB has right now, but this just seems like a X-Men type movie where batman/wolverine is the "main" character; you have 3-4 iconic characters in this, WB, USE them ALL.

and not telling their origins, (even for X minutes) and building character interaction is fluff. again going back to some bat-villain that wants revenge (talia?) kills the mega-action that the JLA's heavy hitters can provide

the more i find out about casting, etc.. the less i want this to happen b/c it just kills the nolan/singer franchises

although i could care less about the later, it WILL be confusing to the audience with a diff batman and probably different superman actor. (even though i think routh is the best candidate)

The mastermind villain is clearly connected to Ra's Al Ghul and BATMAN BEGINS per the "hints" (unless some moron decided The Riddler's arc from HUSH was worth ripping off). It's either Talia (Who, along with Ra's, was being usurping Bruce's plans in TOWER OF BABEL), Ra's Al Ghul or The Joker. Anything less (Falcone, Earle, etc, neither of which make sense) would be completely lame. Luthor is a distant fourth.

None of this strikes me as "Empire".

And people, get with the program. Diana will likely kill Max Lord when he says "Kill me" ("at his urging"), just like in the comics.

I continue to be amazed at the fickleness of fanboys.

How do you know that Lord is going to tell Diana to kill him? Have I missed something?

Now this is a JLA movie I would love. The only question now, is this the final draft? If so get this thing cast so we can start filming.

Sounds good so far.

If the cast is decent, I'll be psyched.

It's most likely Talia. Her betrayal would crush Bruce. Not to mention she is the most likeliest one to feign the Ra's Al Ghul angle. I was hoping for something more obscure and left field. But fanboys being fanboys, we over analyse every possible situation, it's impossible to spoil anything. If anything it makes the twist even more disappointing.

Yes. You have. Because the events surrounding the Justice League-centric comic book arc called THE OMAC PROJECT, which this script is clearly loosely based on, along with the JLA arc TOWER OF BABEL, feature the following:

Max Lord, after taking over Batman's Brother Eye surveillance system, brainwashes Superman and causes him to go rogue, harming Batman and battling Diana. When Diana catches up to Lord, he reveals he was behind the brainwashing, and points out that he will do it again. Diana asks Lord how she can stop him from doing so again...and Lord says "Kill me". Diana doesn't even hesitate. She snaps his neck leading to all kinds of trouble for metahuman superheroes.

I believe this may well happen in the film because A, it's an enormous moment in the JLA mythos recently, and B, because people "In the know" have said there's a moment where fans of a character will be upset about what a female character does at a villains' urging.

This is why movies shouldn't rely on "twists" for all their dramatic impact. Hopefully, JUSTICE LEAGUE will have more to offer storywise and in terms of character than that twist. I imagine it will, given the storyline they've chosen to adapt.

Frankly, while I like Talia and her place in the Batman mythos, and appreciated her turn in TOWER OF BABEL, I don't want to see JUSTICE LEAGUE hinge on a character like that. I want Vandal Savage, Darkseid, some version of the Legion of Doom, etc. But it could work.

Dude, I never said I wanted any twist. It's more in reference (guessing game) to what Patrick was posting in the IESB board.

I'm surprised it opens at a funeral, but I like it. This sounds very good. And yeah **SPOILERS** WW will most likely kill Lord, in fact I would be kind of let down if she didn't. It's such a powerful moment. I only hope that the secret villain is not someone like The Joker. I would even prefer Luthor.

I've never read it. So how the hell am I supposed to know that? Anyway, they could change it if they wanted to.

I dont know if anyone has notice but on superherohype.com they put out news that Rupert Evans may be superman.

I hope not. He's only 5'10" and doesn't look anything like Superman.

Sounds cool, but I can only see it as an animated movie. I still can't see this as live action.

Also, about the multiple villains, here's a thought: Darkseid?

While I don't think an origin film is needed per se, I think a nice 5 to 10 minute prolouge similar to Lord of the Rings is in order here. Something that explains in very quick terms the powers/origins of 5 of the 7 JLAers ( I really don't think Superman and Batman need their origins or abilities explained anymore ).

i see no need. If its like the x men promotion we will know that already throught the press junket!
