So how would you guys rank the series so far now that we're past the halfway point?

I'd rank the 5 current chapters in the following order myself

Society of Super-Heroes
Thunderworld Adventures
The Multiversity #1
Pax Americana
The Just

Can't wait for next Wednesday. The Guidebook has been my most anticipated entry since the series was announced. Mostly because I've really been waiting for each of the 52 Earths to get definitively defined since the end of 52 over 8 years ago. My patience is finally about to pay off.

It's still coming out next week. It was just news to me last week that it wasn't coming out yesterday because DC's pretty bad at keeping people oficially informed about sudden shipping changes like that.

I believe it's 40 pages identifying the worlds in the orrery, the map of the multiverse and explaining the roles of the Crisis events in the overall DC cosmology. Bookended by 40 pages featuring stories starring Kamandi on the Kirby inspired Earth-51 and a team up of Multiversal Batmen from Earth-17 and Earth-42. I'm guessing each story is going to get about 20 pages each.

Interesting that Morrison seems to be playing by his own rules here, not that I mind. Making the New Gods “emanations” (just as in Final Crisis) is still the best way to do it. That way they can more easily interact with characters from other stories like Injustice or the cartoons. But even more interesting is the idea that Darkseid is still dead after the events of Final Crisis. Does that mean the nu52 Darkseid is something else entirely or is DC just going to sweep this under the rug? I’m hoping the former but the latter is the more likely.

Yeah they're gods. Gods exist in different dimensions that are beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals here in the third dimension. So them being basically "sentient ideas" that echo differently across the different vibrational frequencies of the multiverse makes a lot of sense.

The Darkseid thing I take it as Darkseid has been trying to rebuild his true corporeal form since it was shattered by Superman back in Final Crisis. He's not dead per se but he's still in limbo and gradually remanifesting into his true form. So no "New 52 Darkseid" is not something else entirely. Technically there is no such thing as "New 52 Darkseid". However that will explain why his "avatars" have been weaker than usual as presented in the first arc of the current Justice League volume and Earth-2.

I'm thinking that's why he was presented as being so obsessed with the Supermen of the multiverse in his villains month issue a couple of years back. Subconsciously he still knows the Man of Steel is his ultimate foil outside of Orion.
