Mortal Kombat 2021

Ideas for the sequel

Yahya Abdul Mateen II - Baraka
Chris Pratt - Johnny Cage
Celina Jade - Kitana
Zoe Saldana - Jade
John David Washington - Cyrax
Troy Baker - Kintaro (voice)
Daniel Wu - Sektor
Michelle Yeoh - Sindel
Jason Statham - Ermac/Jerrod
Scott Adkins - Smoke
Tony Jaa - Reiko
??? - Kuai Liang. Not sure who should play him but he should be under 30 and be the main protagonist. Needs to be Asian-American and under 30.

Joe Taslim would return as Noob Saibot, Hiroyuki Sanada comes back as Scorpion since he can't die since he's already undead, Ludi Lin returns as Liu Kang since he has plot armor and Todunobu Asano returns as Raiden since he's a god and thus immortal. Ermac would tend the flesh pits and resurrects Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung and Mileena as clones.

Kuai Liang would be brought into the Lin Kuei to be the new Sub-Zero, learns that he's the brother of the Sub-Zero from the first movie and is sent to Outworld to compete in the new Mortal Kombat tournament before realizing that Grandmaster Sektor is actually evil. Kitana has a Truman Show-style arc where she learns that Shao Kahn isn't her father and she's been mind-controlled the entire time. She and Jade join the Earthrealm warriors in opposing Outworld's forces. Johnny Cage is a washed-up martial arts actor who's past his prime but is also chosen by destiny in the event that Outworld should ever hold a Mortal Kombat tournament in its own realm.

:funny: maybe if the movies budget was 500 million :funny:

A lot of familiar names in that fan cast.

I'm hoping for the opposite and go for fresh new faces if the sequel happens.

If they do get a big name, it would probably be Shao Kahn as a voice.

That’s a nice list but no way they could afford most of those actors let alone just one.

Also, Yahya Abdul Mateen II is great, but I'm not sure you look for him for a role like Baraka.

Let me start off by saying I am in no way a Mortal Kombat fan. I’ve played a few rounds at parties here and there and maybe once or twice at an arcade. That said, I thought this movie was pretty bad. The action is cool, but the acting and writing is atrocious.

Oh...dren!

1. I believe Weezerspider.
2. It's not so surprising considering how inexperienced the people behind this are. First-time director and really a first-time screenwriter.
3. Cole Young.

The cold opening is awesome. The lizard? fight is awesome. The final fight is pretty awesome. Everything else pretty much sucks

Did you watch MK95 or Annihilation? How would you compare the new movie to those?

Guys, do we really go into a Mortal Kombat movie expecting Oscar-caliber acting? Look how the acting was in the 95 movie and people like that! Plus, it's just one guy. Let's see how everyone else thinks of it closer to release.

No. But I do expect acting better than Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

Wait, there was acting in Annihilation?

Weezer how was Reptile (the lizard)?

He was my favorite character.
He only has one fight, but it is very cool. He gets his heart ripped out of him by the Australian guy.

Never seen ‘um. I’m gonna be a lot less help with this one than I was when I saw Godzilla vs Kong early lol.

It's supposed to be a "check your brain at the door" kind of movie.

But again, it's one guy saying it's bad. Let's wait until the reactions online come in.

Yeah, I’m sure fans can probably leave their brain at the door and enjoy it more than me. There is plenty of action. I just found most of the action to be pretty sloppy, too. The editing of some of the action scenes had no rhythm at all. Also, action gets boring when you don’t care about the characters at all. The movie does a terrible job developing characters, but you guys already care about the characters. The samurai-type action sequences are really well done(opening and climax). I don’t know if the director and choreographer have a background with that kind of action and the special effects fight scenes were tougher for them or what, but the opening 10 minutes was so good, I was expecting to really like it and then the very next action scene was awful.

@weezerspider
Is the acting too campy or... ?

Yeah. It is terrible. We were laughing out loud a lot at it, not with it. It is very melodramatic and over the top and the acting is so bad. The main character is the worst.

I mean, I'll be honest, as someone who has played all the games from the first to the most recent, the entire concept is basically a campy martial arts horror thing, the acting in the games is pretty much self aware a lot of times. If it took itself too serious I'd probably raise an eyebrow more at that.
