I only just now took a good look at it and I dig it. They did something new without reinventing the wheel. Kept it simple.

MK Legacy S1 and S2.

The Scorpion/Sub-Zero episodes from S1 showed me that they could easily carry their own film series.

I never liked their costumes from that series.

So, that newspaper confirms Tan’s character is an MMA fighter, which works more than a washed up boxer.

Yeah, I'm all for that. It would be a little weird if Cage is the descendant of Scorpion but at least the entire movie wouldn't be hinging on a character no one cares about.

I just realized Kuai Liang's Sub-Zero has only been done in live action once for Annihilation. Bi-Han has only been Sub-Zero 4 times (original game, MK Mythologies, Shaolin Monks and MK 2011) and each of those times taking place before or during the original game.

Bi-Han in the original movie, Conquest, Legacy and this film all take place before or during the original game era.

I'm sure both Scorpion and Sub Zero' will blow the water out of their other live action counterparts, in terms of costumes. How hard could it be?

Yeah, it's funny that they used the inverse of their names for a character as a joke and he ended up becoming one of the most popular characters.

Why are you so sure nobody will care about Cole? He could actually turn out to be cool and well liked because of Taslim. I doubt he'll even be Cole for the entire or most of the film before turning into a new scorpion. Can't see that being the ending after all the teasing by Taslim. Once he's Scorpion then he'll likely change personality and be dark/more serious or something.

You've been determined to hate on him no matter what since the thread started. At least given him a chance in the trailers or something.

Him being a martial artist than a boxer and asian(no white scropion)is a good tweak. Taslim has charisma, good looks and is a good fighter

Just drop the daughter subplot and bingo!

Sorry, let me clarify. I meant that no one NOW cares about Cole. If he turns out to be a well-written, likeable character than it could happen. But it's still an uphill climb, because there are characters people WANT to see already because they're fans of the game. No one has any connection to Cole at this point, though they might after the movie. I guess we'll see.

Also, Taslim is playing Sub-Zero. Tan is (apparently) Cole.
