Mortal Kombat 2021

Oh wow, FATALITY!

The news of Mortal Kombat releasing on March 5, 2021 has Sony shaking in their boots!

He-Man currently doesn't even have a release date. I mean ffs, Sony set the spring date just last week, lmao. WB has Sony shook!

I don't want anything specific maybe outside focus on the classic roster, but I'm just ready for MK movie. Bring it on whatever it is.

Also while you're at it don't forget to remaster 95 film for 4K. It's 25th anniversary next year.

Hopefully we'll know who they'll get soon.

They got a budget for this?

It's filming on my birthday! If It's filming soon then shouldn't it be ready sometime next year instead of early 2021?

Casting call for extras/fighters/bodybuilders went out yesterday.

Meh, not like this is the next Avengers or something.

I'm only interested if they embrace the look and feel of the games. I'll pass if it's a grounded and gritty reboot.

I'd base the story on the original game. Approach it like Magnolia and center the film around an ensemble cast featuring the seven fighters. Set up their individual backstories and their internal conflicts during the 1st third of the movie and then bring all the characters together for the tournament.

At least one or two, maybe even three of them have to die. If there's one series where you shouldn't grow attached to the characters and automatically expect them to survive each installment, it's this one.

You have to have more than just those 7. The MKII cast of Mileena, Kitana, Jax, Kung Lao...etc should also be present.

I'd say there's an argument for Jax and Kung Lao, specifically because of their association with Sonya and Liu Kang. Mileena and Kitana could be held off until a sequel however.

I’d only kill Sub Zero in the first film.

I think its be a cool opening. Begin the film with the end of the previous tournament, with Scorpion killing Bi-Han.

Itd be a great way introducing the audience to not only the tone and style of the film, but to certain character and plot specifics (rules of the tournament etc) straight off the bat. Without the need of exposition dumps or a slow, dragged out first act.

Damn it, Sub-Zero got shortchanged in the only watchable Mortal Kombat film before; I don’t want to see him go out like a punk again. I’m fine if he dies but at least give him some screen time and it needs to be Scorpion that takes him out.

Well see to me Kuai Lliang is Sub Zero. They should make his story arc a focus. He wants revenge against Scorpion. But learns, through Scorpion himself, that vengeance will consume the soul.
