Mortal Kombat Reboot

If they ever were to re-boot the Mortal Kombat movie franchise and this time do it successfully even though the 1995 film was a success at the box office but its sequel the 1997 sequel Annihilation wasn't well received among critics and what not I was wondering if a Mortal Kombat reboot can really work? And if it can then they should make it similar to the 1995 film because if they can do that then who knows perhaps the reboot could be just as good if not better than the 1995 film and it could spawn off into sequels
