Yeah, I’m guessing that it won’t even be a “twist” except to anyone who is going into the movie completely blind. Because you have to think that they are going to want to market this film showing Tan decked out in full Scorpion gear.

That’s a big risk they’re taking leading a new MK movie with some random character. I think it’s a bad idea, but we’ll never know until the movie is released.

Yeah, that’s why I think they’ll review him as the legacy Scorpion in the trailer. Because if they don’t, then they run the risk of people seeing it and being like, “Wait, who is this guy?”

Of course, I could be wrong and they might go all-in on trying to sell Cole as the audience character. The rationale for that, I guess, is that MK is such a weird setting that a character like that is needed, and because it’s a video game, what connect the audience to MK is their ability to actually be a part of it. But the flaw in that logic, I think, is that even if they try to make this new character the Everyman, there will still be people who don’t relate to him. So then he just becomes another character. But we’ll see.

Someone on youtube supposedly got a 2018 draft of the script and it sounds so much better than the draft people keep talking about. He couldn't go into to much detail but he did say that the Cole character was handled much better than the 2016 draft. Has anyone here been able to read that 2016 draft of the script?

I don’t know. The only old script I know of is the one that Da Scribe posted a review of, and someone else posted a description of the end scene, which I guess was from that script.

Hiroyuki Sanada is perfect to play Hanzo from MK 9, 10 and 11 but Tan is perfect for classic Scorpion.

Yes, Sanada has been cast as Scorpion but there has been speculation that Tan is playing a legacy character who becomes the new Scorpion. This is based on the original script (in which the main character Cole learns that he is the descendant of Scorpion) and because Sanada is considerably older than most of the other cast members.
