Mortal Kombat

Please tell me they are not making a third installment? I hope not, lol. Far as the list of actors supposedly the orignal cast was gonna be. I'm glad they went with who they had even though Johnny cage;the guy sux'd. Sonya; though she was kindof hot in a way, was'nt really good. The newbie guy for Lui Kang was a good choice for sure, and Rayden/shang cant go wrong with those two actors..
Far as Brandon Lee as johnny cage or lui kang, just dont see it. Maybe more so for Lui than johnny. Brandons the man far as I'm concerned, made one of arguably the best comic book movies(though movie figures don't reflect it) to date imo...

Mortal Kombat Rebooted?
The latest buzz on the game-to-film franchise.
IGN.com by Stax
March 28, 2007 - It seems you can forget about seeing Mortal Kombat III. Instead, the whole franchise will reportedly be getting the reboot treatment, a la Casino Royale and Batman Begins.

"The movie is not going to be a prequel, sequel, or in any form be related to the previous 2 movies. Pretty much like Batman Begins, is going to restart the series with new concepts, stories, etc.," a scooper informed Moviehole.net.

The report adds, "The reason it is taking so long is the script, so many parts are involved. The team at Threshold (the ones that holds the right to MK) are constantly writing drafts (along with the director), which they have to send to Midway (makers of the game) so the creator of the game (Ed Boon) adds notes and some input to the draft, then to the studio (rumored to be Lionsgate at this moment)."

Moviehole also points out that the film's director, Mink, has apparently been posting comments about the long-awaited project over at the IMDB.com message boards.

In his post, Mink revealed, "Casting adjourned for the moment before we got that far. As I have said in other posts we went back to the script after the initial movement on the project and have been rewriting (per the parties involved Threshold, Studio, Midway) since no additional casting thoughts and or processes were even continued. As soon as the script is done we will proceed with casting again and all options in all casting areas are still on the table 100%."

The helmer reportedly confirmed that he has approached MK vets Christopher Lambert and Robin Shou about the film.

could be interesting with the right people behind it, but approaching the original actors for a reboot isn't exactly the smartest of ideas...

...if that's any indication of how things on this new film are gonna go then it might be over before "IT HAS BEGUN!!!"

If they're rebooting they should get Tony Jaa to play Liu Kang and the guy from Kung Fu and Kill Bill to play Raiden.

those would be some pretty awesome choices actually. especially david carradine as raiden. i'd love to see that.

Hopefully it'll be rated "R" and have a good amount of development for all the characters.

Edit: Who is this Mink guy, what movies has he directed.

i say...

Takeshi Kaneshiro for Liu Kang!!!

i know it'll never happen but i can dream...

I wonder if Johnny Cage will be the biggest badass again! Thats what surprised me the most and what I ended up loving the most about the original MK.

A new MK sequel will never get off the ground... :(

About halfway through seeing MK Annihilation, I realized that I would never again see another movie in the franchise.

Rebooting the series has some potential, but it's a shame to waste the chance they had with Robin Shou and Christopher Lambert.

Yeah, I know. They were both great in the role.
I mean, as strange as it was seeing a Frenchman play the Chinese god of thunder, he pulled it off. Though with a reinvention of the series, instead of the cynical, patient version of Rayden, I'd like to see a return to the warrior god who is the sole protector of the Earth Realm.

thats because in the story johnny was trying to redeem a reputation as a fraud he'd been barred from competing by his employers due to insurance risks:ninja:

If they make it R then it'll be good don't make it pg 13 but cmon hurry up already and write the script and start making this movie !!!!!!!!
