Mortal Kombat

As cool as this series is, it's so strange how WB is totally pussyfooting with the eventual theatrical reboot.

It's not really that strange, just look at their DC properties. :csad: [/Still hoping for a Captain Marvel film]

Maybe they just want to build a lot of hype, and with the web series, make even more people aware of the franchise.

That always seemed to be the plan, far as I knew. It would be in their best interests to tread carefully on rebooting the theatrical franchise. Some still consider the first film to be questionable at best, even though it does have its fans and was commercially successful. The SEQUEL, however, was a pure unadulterated piece of $#!+. And in the time since, even if you exclude the seemingly endless Resident Evil film franchise, we still haven't had much luck adapting video games for film.

At the very least, we're getting a well-made web series out of the whole deal, and that might be enough to satisfy some folks.

Liu Kang shooting fire from his hands? One of the things I like more about the first movie is no silly looking beams for most of the characters

The way he was using his Fire, he immediately reminded me of Kyo and Iori from King of Fighters.

Didn't remember this one
That fight scene is always wonderful to watch

Its over...

"After 3 years of Kombat," Tancharoen writes, "I've decided to move on to other creative opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!"

Good. I'm glad he got it back up and running but I don't think he has the talent to really get the series to be taken seriously again

I disagree. Hes very talented. I was very curious to see what he could with a lot of money

i would love to see keanue reeves direct or the guy who did the raid to direct mortal kombat. legacy lacked good fight scenes so im not to sad that he left the project i just hope they dont delay the movie because of it.

I enjoyed Legacy for what it was. But if the movies were not gonna continue the web series. Like the rumors said it would not. Then its probably best to get new people on the project

The web series was a mixed bag. He did some great stuff, but also a lot that was questionable. I didn't mind it too much, since I thought a web series would be the best place to experiment with new ideas. The Movie could have gone either way. It could have been amazing, or absolutely terrible.

He had the passion, but I was never 100% certain whether or not he was the right man for the job.

I still can't believe Paul W.S. Anderson was actually able to do so well with MK the first time around and make it one of the most accurate adaptations ever. I despise the guy's work and that Pompeii teaser makes my head hurt. I will give him Mortal Kombat though.

I still haven't seen the second season of the web show.

I'm going to guess we'll hear about this film again if one of the other video game films being made at other studios gets made and is successful.

And he actually managed to pull of some moves that didn't look like horrible wire work. Still can't believe how good the bicycle kick looked.

Michael Jai White as Jax, if not him then they need to cast Rampage Jackson or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Jax

Dwayne needs to stay occupied with the DCCU, and not bother with this film.

Is a new film finally being made soon for sure or it's still in developmental hell? I always thought Keanu would make a perfect Kenshi or Johnny Cage. I love the rock but for Jax I think people like MJW or Rampage Jackson would fit way better.

Oh and Tony Jaa or the guy from the Raid movies as Kung Lao!!

I think its safe to say that this film is firmly back in development hell.

I guess if they do make it, they will release it in 2017 or 2018

i just realized that the first Mortal Kombat movie turns 20 this year

Are you serious? That means I was only 11-12 when I first watched it.
