Mortal Kombat

Scorpion is of course the exception. Scorpion doesn't die. He takes timeouts. Anyone else shouldn't return as a specter though.

hopefully its gonna be good, rebirth was well shot but moronic its its uber realism approach, and the web shot though had some decent moments got old quick and had some real shoddy design aspects(baraka) i never even finished the whole series stopped after the melina ep

Your avy is creepy. What is that from?

problem is very few directors these days do fantasy in their movies

dont have the balls i say lol

For Liu Kang, I'd hope they'd cast a Chinese actor again. Talking about Taiwanese and Koreans for the role doesn't seem right. Like, I'm picturing Chris Tucker saying, "All ya'll look alike".

Eh. Not that big of a deal really. Ho-Sung Pak is Korean. He was the first Liu Kang after all.

Which goes right back to them all looking alike.

I've been watching lots of Martial arts clips on youtube recently. I know some people want Statham as Kano. But what about Scott Adkins?

I think they should go the brutal path for the killing and do kill a lot of characters that won't be coming for future films. There are a lot of great chars from first 3 MK games and they can easily kill some in each film without having to bring them back. For example, MK1 film could have all the MK1 characters but kill Goro and Cage. In the second one they can kill Sonya, Kitana and Kano and so on. Meaningful deaths are always welcome and add some seriously awesome balls to any film / comic / game.

Hey, now that we're talking about characters and deaths, why not cast them :)

Liu Kang: Rain (Ninja Assassin)
Scorpion: Ed Boon (Though always masked)
Sub-Zero: Ian Anthony Dale (Scorp from MK Rebirth)
Kano: Vinnie Jones (from Snatch)
Sonya: Lena Headey / Jaime Alexander (from Thor)
Raiden: Gary Oldman
Jax: Idris Elba (The Wire)
Shang Tsung: Tony Liung (Red Cliff, Hard Boiled)
Johnny Cage: James Marsden (X-Men, Straw Dogs 2011)

That didn't say 100%it no mystical stuff and I doubt he wouldn't use mystical stuff they are important to certain characters and he knows fans would not be too keen on no mystical stuff.

Wasn't it his work on web series that got him this job?

Yes and no. His original short got him the webseries which got him this.

As much as I thought the webseries was pretty lame, I'd take that any day over a feature length Rebirth trash.

They better use the old theme music.

The choices with Oldman is not gonna happen. Then again he did Red Rising Hood. Though I do like your choices for Cage and Tsung.

And haha, why recast Dale as Sub-Zero when Boon is not an actor; he's a video game designer. He's just provided the voice of Scorpion in the past.

G;ad to hear they're taking this down a different path. If you want mystical, go watch the old 2 films, i don't want to see the same thing all over again, it could use a freshen up.

That's good, I could totally see it.

I hope they stick to the newest game & don't kill Johnny off. He's my second favorite character after Scorpion.

That was one of the biggest surprises. The guy known for dying all the freaking time, actually survived throughout the entire story. But in exchange pretty much everyone else bit the dust.

Get Matt Mullins for Johnny Cage! JK, but I wouldn't mind.

I'll give it a shot. I just hope they get a budget and better production values than Legacy.

Also what direction will they take it? Do they want that gritty realism/fantasy mash-up like the web series or closer to the proof of concept short film?

Would it be an R-rating?

The problem with martial arts movies is that most American ones are really B-movie ish. They all lack that sort of it factor of Enter The Dragon which I'd still say is the greatest martial arts movie of all time. I don't think here would even be a Mortal Kombat franchise without that movie.

Interviews say they plan this as an R rated Movie and they shoot for gritty and realistic.
