Only reason why you wouldn't start fresh is if you really wanted Ryan Reynolds to be GL. But there are other actors out there that are fit to be Hal Jordan. It's a shame that he got the short end of the stick with that movie, but it's time to move on. Hopefully if we do get a GL franchise in the future, it's by people with much grander visions. There is just so much potential. It's too bad Abrams is tied up with Star Wars.

Maybe they can convince James Cameron to do it.

As much as I love Cameron...ideally, I would love for Abrams to take up the project. I'd probably die while reading the announcement.

Sounds to me that Kal is all but confirming that they pushed the movie so they could go right into justice league instead of doing a worlds finest beforehand

I don't get my information from sites/blogs, or from where they claim to get their's. If you were around when we were discussing "production is back to original schedule and not delayed", you'd see why.

So the delay really was just for this one film, to adjust and make the necessary alterations? Gotta be honest, that really bums me out. If they're taking this long for a semi-Trinity film, how long are they going to need for JL, which is easily twice as big?

There isn't any real reason in the world I can think of other than maybe they're waiting for Dwayne Johnson's schedule to be clear so he can be John Stewart. Green Lantern comes out in 2016 with BvS and they're connected. That would be with a different director and writer.

Either that, or they're NOT shooting BvS and Justice League at the same time... but BvS is one long movie split into two movies, neither of them being Justice League. BvS Part 1 and BvS Part 2. If a 300-page script was written between these three writers (maybe four if you count Affleck?), doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

This is Warner Brothers. I wouldn't be shocked if there were massive shakeups and internal problems behind the scenes that led to this delay.

A little, yes. When they took a big step and outright announced a Batman/Superman movie, I (wrongly) assumed pieces had already fell into place which would make the next few years a very smooth process.

Obviously that wasn't the case. It's frustrating, I must say.

Or was it because of Nolan's trilogy, the greatest superhero trilogy of all-time, not being connected to other superheroes? Was the greatest superhero trilogy of all-time considered a sign of incompetence?

I would think that Marvel not having the film rights to their biggest properties, like Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, would be a sign of incompetence, since they're stuck making movies with second-tier characters, third-tier characters, fourth-tier characters like Ant-Man, because they don't have their A-listers, and they don't have Marvel's own First Family.

I'm not seeing any big cinematic plans for Blade, Daredevil, Punisher, or Ghost Rider either. I'm seeing exclusive photos of toys for Guardians of the Galaxy.

I imagine WB might have an easier, more "competent" time in the future because they have every DC character at their disposal now (and forever), and there aren't any legal issues involved.

In the meantime, I'm sure it'll be interesting to see two Quicksilvers within one year played by two different actors. Seems pretty competent to me.

Because of every DC project they've done in the past 2 decades that didn't involve Chris Nolan.
