Personally I think both villains are destined to be crap. Heath Ledger is not Joker material IMO. Fine actor, but hes always played laid back, quiet dudes. And Topher grace as Eddie Brock is a joke, and the little ive seen of Venom so far has been disappointing. But I have more faith in Nolan than I do Raimi.

Really? The main reason I'm so hyped to see the Joker is because I honestly don't know what to expect. Heath Ledger has never played a role like this before, so we don't know what kind of Joker he could be. There's no way you could see he's not Joker material, because you just don't know that. Plus, Nolan obviously has seen something in Ledger that inspired him to make this choice, and since Nolan's been spot on with casting so far, I have great faith in him.

The same can really be said for Topher Grace as Brock/Venom, and I'm pretty excited to see that as well. The Joker is just a much better and more interesting character to see.

people who want venom do make a point since venom hasnt been seen in a real life movie

I can, and just did.

He still won't really be "real life" since he'll maily be CGI, which is pretty like a really cool cartoon.

And that's rather ignorant of you. But it's okay.

Not really. Im basing this off of every role Heath Ledger has ever had. I just dont see it. Jack Nicholson, I could see it, becasue im convinced Jack needs to stay heavily medicated. If he pulls it off, great. But as of right now, I dont think hes right for the role.

The combonation of Nolan, Bale and the greatest villain of all time is just too much to overcome. I guess the only thing left for Raimi and Spidey to smirk about are it's bigger box-office gross, better reviews, multiple oscar nominations and win and overall worldwide popularity as shown by the foreign box office take. :(

Much love for Joker, but I am waiting more for Venom than Joker, and SM3 is a year away.

My only problem with Venom is.....what has he ever done to impact Spidey?

He's the coolest LOOKING villian in Spidey's rouge gallery.....but, I think he's just got alot of hype around him solely b/c he's cool looking.

Other than that, he's cool. I actually like him when he's one of the good guys.

Nofx has a great point. Venom just looks cool. There isn't much to him.

I missed his post on that, but yeah...I'm with him on that. Visually Venom is very very thrilling. But, I don't think he offers much more than that.

This kinda reminds me of the 'ol Boba Fett argurment. Wheter, if he's a cool villian.....or just a cool LOOKING villian.

People think there's more to him than there really is, and that's why Venom is simply overrated.

I'm looking more forward to Venom for a few reasons;

Aside me being a Venom fan;

We haven't seen a villain like Venom on-screen, i'm intrigued by how he'll play out. I see know reason why Venom won't work. And from the trailers for Spider-Man 3, it looks like it's going to be a darker film, I can't wait to see Peter being corrupted by the symbiote and how it effects the ones he loves. And in the film, they said that Eddie Brock would be like Peter, only Eddie had a troubled childhood. And it looks like there is going to be alot of trouble for him, only to be found by the symbiote. Of course this is all aside Sandman, and of course Harry.

I am skeptical about a few things, however.

1) Topher Grace (I'm worried as to whether or not he'll be a convincing Brock.
2) 3 Villains in SM-3, with Venom "appearing at the end"

But i'm holding judgement until after I see the film.

With that off my shoulders, onto the Joker.

Now i'm not a big Batman fan, but from the comics i've seen and the films I like him. I thought the first two Batman films were excellent, I wasn't to fond of the rest. However, I loved Batman Begins and I can't wait to see the sequel. But I know the Joker is a BIG VILLAIN, how anyone can compete with that is unknown. He's been around for a long time, he's a heavy hitter in the world of Comic-book villains, and maybe overall villains. I thought the Joker in the first Batman film was awesome, i'm curious as to how he'll be in the new film.

Venom impacts Spidey by showing him what he could be. No one wants to face their dark side.

You couldn't be more wrong.

I hope I'm wrong about Venom (and The Joker for that matter) but neither villain interests me on a thrill level.

On a thrill level I don't think the Spider-man villains will get much better than Ock. Like I said before, I'm looking forward to seeing the development of Eddie Brock but once he becomes Venom the interest in his character will most likely fade since he's basically just like Spider-man visually. I have more interest in seeing Sandman in action than Venom. And if it weren't for the Harry/Peter subplot I wouldn't be interested in seeing GG2 again at all.

Tough question for the Batman villains since I don't hold them in high regard...especially the female villains which I particularly don't care for. Just about all of Batman's villains have been done now...not all in a good way but they've still been done. I know the Joker is a homicidal maniac but there's not much he can do (shoot someone, blow up someone, etc) that's going to excite me. Nicholson's Joker may have been a buffoon but he did everything I just mentioned. The only way I could possibly get excited for The Joker right now is if TDK was slapped with an "R" rating by the MPAA because I know I would be seeing a true maniac in the Joker and not some watered down PG-13 stuff.

I would probably want to see Bane, mainly because I don't remember much about Batman and Robin. I think I blacked out during that movie.

Well i'm personally looking forward to both a lot but i agree Ock was a great villain and will be hard to top
