Most Overrated Batman Villian

I got to go with the Penguin, or the Riddler.

Way overrated. imo

Whos the most overrated Batman villian? Im talking about the most popular ones not like second rate ones.

Id say my vote goes for two-face because he really doesnt do anything. In the Long Halloween he killed like 2 people and in Dark Victory he really didnt do much except run from Batman. If Batman didnt have a soft spot for him he'd get beaten so bad because he has no fighting skills.

None of Batman's best villians are a physical match for him. It's all about mind games and twisted acts of violence. Riddler is awesome because Batman is the only person with a keen enough mind to follow his clues and discern his motivation before time runs out. Two-Face is brilliant because he is the dark reflection of Batman, his original drive to rid Gotham of crime has left him torn between his nobility and his brutality to the point where his decisions and actions are no longer his own, and even though Batman can stop him, he can't save him (and thus he can't save himself). Joker is awesome because his psychosis is beyond rationality, and since Batman, like Sherlock Holmes, is a testament to the rational mind, the Joker is beyond Batman's control. Bane was the first Batman villian to really best him in combat, and Bane sucked.

Lady Shiva bested Batman in combat well before Bane, and she didn't need to weaken him first. Which is why Bruce sought her out to retrain him during his post-Bane recovery.

Bane could be a great villain, since he has the ability to attack Batman on two fronts simultaneously. However, his lucha wrestler costume and over-sexed machismo makes him such an embarrassing Latino cliche that he's a little hard to take seriously. His oh-so-nineties, complicated, sob-story origin doesn't help either. He's a perfect example of the old adage: There's no such thing as a bad idea, only bad writing. What a waste of the only man to defeat the Bat.

-- END!

voted Bane. he was only in one really good story, he's kinda like venom is that he's a very popular character that never really did anything after his first big splash

I voted for Penguin since he is pretty boring and default, this doesnt include Tim Burtons vision of the Penguin of course.

Mr. Freeze.

I have yet to read a compelling Mr. Freeze story, and to be frank, he always seemed kind of out of place to me in the Batman universe. He seems kind of ridiculous, to be honest.

Second would be Bane... I think it's kind of cool to have such a muscle-bound villain also be really smart, but on the same token, he's part of this ridiculous trend of uber-modern, "awesome in EVERY WAY" villains that began to pop up in the 80s.

Two-Face, for example, isn't super-strong, is smart but not a genius, yet he's consistently an interesting and engaging character that transcends his own gimmick.

Everyone keeps mentioning Mr. Freeze, Bane, and Ivy. Could there be a pattern? :whatever:

This thread should be renamed "worst" Batman villain. The terms of..."overration"...are pretty vague.

no its not....overrated means that they get much more credit than they deserve dumbass....but seriously you are a dumbass

Has this anger been building up in you? I mean--what did I say? Seriously, that came out of nowhere.

Most over-rated? In my oppinion it's Two-Face.

Sure, he's a great character and I love him but...is he really in the top two of three Bat-villians? I don't think he's had enough classic stories or stand-out moments to warrant him being placed so high up on the podium. Although, that takes nothing away from being a great character who can earn the right to be considered one of the best. A few more classic moments and stories will do it over time, atleast for me.

But as it stands....he's overrated.

And who in your opinion has had so many classic stories or stand out moments that ranks them in the top three??

Joker is obvious, but who are the other two?

I think Ras Al Ghul for sure would be up there. As for a third, I'm not really sure. What do you think?

I think Two Face. I've always seen Joker, Ra's, and Two Face as the big three in Batman's rogues gallery.

What other competition is there?

True, but I just don't feel he's really on the same level as the other two. Almost like he's placed on that level with them, but shouldn't be there.
That's not taking away anything from Two-Face. He's great and he's a favourite of mine, but is he as great as Joker and Ras? That's the point I'm trying to make.

That's an entirely different point you're making then. Nobody said he's as great as Joker or Ra's. Though, what has Ra's done that's as great as the Joker?

Two Face killed Carmine Falcone, Jason Todd's dad, was Batman and Jim Gordon's friend etc. He's hardly overrated. Two Face also has a great psychology to him.
