WTF? Dew from a mountain? Why would they name their drink after dew from a mountain?

What the Hell is a Pepsi or Coca? How about Root Beer or Birch Beer? 7Up and Sprite? Names of soda's are all stupid. My favorites though are the generics that changes their names to be a little different than the name brands.

Little known fact. When Mountain Dew first came out in the late 40's, it used a little hillbilly figure as it's mascot. It gets the name Mountain Dew because it was marketed as a secret recipe from the Appalachian mountains, or something like that. So, long before it was and "extreme" drink, Mountain Dew was closely associated with inbred hillbillies.

Mountain Dew's motto was "It'll tickle your innards."

Coca is an ingrediant that is essential in making soda. Cola is another word for soda. All those other names make no sense.

Reminds me of a Mountain Dew competitor they used to market when I was a kid called "Kickapoo Joy Juice". Stuff tasted pretty much like MD. They played up the hillbilly connection to the hilt, even having little cartoon hillbilly's on their packaging.
