Movie Theater Experiences Thread

My big thing is cell phones constantly on, i can understand if you have an emergency but when your surfing the net or looking at pictures its beyond rediculous. Its almost like people are too busy to even sit still for 2 hours without there phones on.

Talking too droves me nutz beyond belief, if laughing i can take but i cant stamd people screaming or talking.

Some people just come to the movies to socialize or because someone made them come. Sitting still for two hours unless they're watching a reality show marathon is just torture for them.

Fewest people I've ever seen in a theater is five. That was when my sister, my father and I went to see Gerard Depardieu's 'Cyrano de Bergerac'.

I thought we'd be alone in the theater when four of us went to see Winter Soldier on Sunday afternoon but we actually ended up with about twenty people in the theater. At least one of them, a guy who was sitting about five rows in front of us had apparently never seen it before because
when Bucky loses his mask during the fight and we see his face, I heard the guy say in surprise, "Oh, it's Bucky!"

It was a fun experience but everyone during my viewing of Winter Soldier seemed to be comic fans or at least saw The First Avenger…you know, you hear tidbits of people whispering (but they're totally not whispering) facts and differences from the films and comics...

…I just remember mostly, the collective gasp from the audience when Bucky's mask was removed…

…again, it was probably one of the funnest experiences in a theater…

…I hate cellphones and "stupid" chit chat…but I don't mind if I'm in a theater full of fellow nerds correctly talking about the previous film or the comics, that's the only time I'm not bothered by talking in theaters...

Saw X-Men Days of Future Past in Lincoln Square in New York...my first time. Gotta say that place is so awesome to get into.

I love going to Lincoln Square for IMAX. One of the biggest IMAX screens in the country!

Too bad between the subway fairs ($10 for nyc subway and PATH train roundtrip) and a ticket ($20), it costs me $30. :csad:

I would easily pay more if I knew cell phone use would envoke immediate removal from theaters and beer was served in leather chair recliners. I know some theaters like this exist but none around the baltimore area that Im aware of.

Also I hate on a side note when parents (mainly stupid ones) bring infants in stollers to a movie. someone did this during hobbit 2 and shocker when smaug kicked in the baby started screaming. If you cant get someone to watch your kids then dont go to the movies. Stay home and help make the theater going experience better for others. Im expecting my 1st child in a matter of days and even I know not to do this.

Anyone saw Interstellar in IMAX? I thought it looked and sound amazing but the movie kept changing formats constantly that it kinda took me out of the movie.

I've noticed it since TDK. It kinda annoys me, but people seem to love it. And don't get me wrong, I think IMAX is cool, but it can also be a nuisance.

It doesn't bother me one bit. I like looking out for it and seeing what shots Nolan chose to film in IMAX and rest in 35mm.

I have seen some people who bring in tons of food with them before the movie starts... once the movie starts they keep on munching the snacks till the very end of the movie, are they really paying any attention to the movie at all ?

I mean, if they are so hungry.. it would be a good idea to eat first and then buy a ticket to the movie.

Snacking during movies has been a traditional part of the movie going experience practically since the beginning. I'm sure people were enjoying bags of popcorn while watching Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton back in the day.

So which would you prefer? Someone who buys enough food to get them through the whole movie right away? Or someone who has to keep getting up and running to the concession stand throughout the movie, disrupting everyone's movie going experience in the process?

I suggest quit being fat asses and watch the damn movie!!!!! :argh:

:o

This thread reminds me why I only occasionally go to movie theaters,The movies I only plan on going to see so far next year is Avengers:AOU,Star Wars and maybe Jurrassic World. Hopefully those will be all great experiences!

The last two times I went to one there was someone falling asleep and snoring most of the time. Why go pay to see a film if you're tired? And if you notice yourself sleepy then why not go to the restroom to wash your face or get a drink to wake you up instead of being like"wasn't me!"then keeping falling back to sleep and doing the same thing the whole f'n movie!

The best movie theater experiences for me were watching The Dark Knight, Avengers and comedy movies like 22 Jump Street and horror movies like Paranormal activity. The crowd really makes the movie that much better.

People that breathe loud and out of their mouths. The ****.
Or worse is when a person (usually an overweight person) breathes throguh their nose in a sickly wheezing way as if their heart is about to give in.

My whole theater became super silent when[BLACKOUT] Matt Damon blew up[/BLACKOUT] in Interstellar.

Back when TDKR came out I was sat in one of the handful of showings I went to where a woman decided to share her large bucket of popcorn with about nine rows infront of her when the fake Batman slammed into the Mayor's window.

In recent years I've stopped going to movie theaters and just wait for the DVD release. But I finally gave in and decided to go see Nightcrawler on Halloween night, the movie was awesome and is one my favorites. But before the movie starts, there are tons of commercials, than the upcoming trailers, and than FINALLY the movie. And than people providing their very own commentary, people on their phones...yeah I remember now why I stopped going to movie theaters lol.

I gave in two days ago to see TMNT at a $1 movie theater and it was perfect! It was just this couple with their kid in the middle and I was alone in one of the single handicap seats all the way at the end by the one of the doors,The couple laughed a bit a few times and enjoying the movie because their kid was enjoying it but everything went smooth and just the best experiance I've had in a long time while enjoying a large drink.

I still probably won't go again until Avengers:AOU comes out though lol

I remember watching Freddy vs. Jason opening day the audience was pretty packed with mostly young people who were obvious horror fans since they would cheer each time Freddy and Jason took turns maiming each other.

I still remember seeing that one in theaters. Definitely a highlight of my young life, seeing those two duke it out on the big screen.

While watching Harry Potter 7, there was a girl who gave one of those cutesy "A-chi, a-chi, a-chi" prolonged sneezes during a silent part. The whole theater laughed. End. :yay:

I still say that couple I caught having sex during my screeing of 21 Jump Street in 2012 was the craziest thing I EVER experienced in a movie theater. I kept hearing moaning and sex sounds during the midway point of the movie and when I turned around, I saw the girl on top of this dude, boobs and everything out for all to see. I was like "HOLY CRAP" which then drew the attention of other people in the theater and the couple quickly tried to get dressed. The ultimately got kicked out of the showing and when I was leaving the theater after the movie, I saw them in the parking lot and they gave me dirty looks LOL. BTW the couple were in their 20's I would say, around my age of 24 at the time. Crazy stuff!
