This thread topic was kind of inspired by a thread concerning movies people are surprised haven't been made. Basically I'd been thinking for awhile about movies that should have been made but were for some odd reason scrapped in favor of something radically different. Plus I thought it would be fun to completely recast the movies as though they were going to be put into production in a theoretical sense. (With The Incredible Hulk being a restart anything is possible I guess.)
Anyways, on to the meat of my thread. I have always loved the old 60's/70's TV series Bewitched. Imagine my disappointment with the actual theatrical remake of this TV series starring Nicole Kidman (Perfectly cast minus the mousy, high pitched voice.) and Will Farrell. I was especially let down knowing that they were going to make a faithfully adapted movie placed inside the Bewitched reality starring Jim Carrey, who is a dead ringer for the late Dick York. Would this version have been much more enjoyable? I can't say for sure, but it would have been interesting to see them tackle it instead of what we got with the actual Bewitched movie.
And just as I promised, here's what I would consider the perfect cast for the movie. Some of these people might be familiar faces.
Samantha Stevens - Nicole Kidman
She was perfectly cast as the witchy character in the previous Bewitched movie effort. Why tamper with a good thing? All she'd need to do is ditch the squeaky, high pitched voice.
Darren Stevens
Have I said Jim Carrey is a dead ringer for the late Dick York? Why, with Carrey's rubberface he can even mimic all the facial expressions York used in his performance as well.
Endora
This role requires an actress with the same aristocratic air that Agnes Moorehead played the character as having. Shirley Maclaine was good, but there's an even better actress out there. She is one Dame Helen Mirren, who would not think this role beneath her. (She was in the sequel to National Treasure for God's sake.)
More casting to come but I have to leave to do errands now. Ta ta darlings.
