MTV developing Scream series

That episode was great. The phone call felt like it could have been the opening of the original if the original was made today. I loved some of the dialogue. So cheesy but I can imagine people actually saying some of that. "We have a bike path!"

Very good episode, loved the ending with the phone call. It was very well done and the voice sounds great.

It is interesting they brought up some of the ideas from Scream 4, with the killer wanting attention.

In this day and age, that's the most plausible reason.

All things considered, this is pretty decent.

Is the acting bad? Sure, some of it. Are there a ton of cliches and worn out meta jokes? Yep (but that is Scream). But never the less, it is a fun way to kill an hour (no pun intended).

I notice a lot of people are angry about the lack of connections to the original, the different mask, etc. But I think that's a good thing. By Scream 4, the original was basically lost in its own mythology. I notice other people complaining that its basically just a cheap knockoff of the original. But its not. This is exactly what it should be: a modern reimagining of the original. I'd imagine at some point the show is going to crack a few meta jokes about remakes, "gritty reboots," etc. Just because doing so is classic Scream.

I agree. Second episode was great. I'm digging the series right now...

I figured it would be back after how much they promoted it and wow that Comic Con trailer gives a lot away.

The official twitter account deleted that tweet and TV Line deleted their story about the renewal. Hmm...

Earlier this evening, TVLine reported that MTV had renewed their new Scream series for a second season. Executive producer Jaime Paglia had announced the renewal toward the end of the series’ Comic-Con panel late today. That article’s since been deleted. The show’s Twitter account echoed the news in a tweet that read, “Exec producer @JaimePaglia just made an announcement at our #SDCC panel…THERE WILL BE A SEASON 2 OF #MTVSCREAM. HELL YES.” That tweet has now been deleted as well.
Based on the early ratings, it seems likely that Scream will return for a second season but, for whatever reason, somebody doesn’t want the news to be released just yet.
What do you think? Has the show actually been renewed? Did Paglia jump the gun or was he wrong?

sounds like someone may have prematurely jumped the gun...

I bet it was renewed but MTV did jot give him permission to release the news...

That comic con trailer...shows...WAY TOO MUCH hahaha. Oh man. Looks great. Can't wait to see the rest of the season.

Of course they kill one of the characters I liked.

I watched the first two eps earlier tonight and have just finished the 3rd ep, it is way better than I expected it to be, it has pretty much captured the feel of the original movie and IKWYDLS.

Sucks that they killed Riley off though, first the hot red head in the first ep and now her, this show is mean! :(

She was my favorite dark horse for the killer.

Goddammit, Asian girl, you should be smarter than this! Stop trying to avert the stereotype! :argh:

Well they did warn us all in the 1st episode u get a chance to actually like one of the characters that when they kill them you really wish you hadn't got to like them because you feel it. That how the scream movies were.

I'm assuming there are two killers at this point.

I'm assuming there are two killers at this point.

It's been fairly common in the Scream movies, so it is likely. I just think there will be a bit of a twist to the two killers.

Yeah, the only Scream movie that only used one killer was 3. All the others used a duo.
