And Human-Faced Satan cats.
That is questionable. I've to see it to believe it.

i'd love to think there's a big monster in there somewhere but there's no real proof and the only real photo of the monster was debunked a while ago...

...so no, i seriously doubt there's a monster in there...

You saw it on Dl's avvy, that's good enough. :D :p
Nice avvy, BTW.

Wasn't there a story posted a little while ago about how they found out that some circus trainer of some traveling circus was taking his elephants to the lake to bath at night on the night of the first sighting, and that the back and trunk made it look like a long necked dinosaur or something?

I've never heard that Calvin but it makes for an interesing possibility. I just wanted to get peole's opinions on the Loch Ness monster and other cryptids.

Personally I'm not sure what it is but I do think it's something. I think it would be real cool if it turned out to be a pleisosaur or a lost dinosaur but it seems unlikely.

id like to think there is a lochness monster, but it is not there, so....

i'd like their to be a lockness monster. Does that count? If there was one, it probably already died already. I saw something on tv about old nessy and they were showing other lake monster stuff as well. It was pretty interesting.

I wouldn't be suprised to find out that there were sea monsters in the ocean, but there is no way they could live in these small lakes, there just wouldn't be enough food.

It's not real. There's just not enough food in the Loch Ness to feed such a beast. If such a creature existed, it's dead carcass should wash up on shore occassionally.

In Canada there is supposedly a similar legend. However it's probably just a group of otters traveling together. When the head of the lead otter pops up, the rest of the otters can look like a long neck attached to it.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I needed to write a paper on this but first I had to get a feel for how some people felt about the monster.

I don't know what there is but it seems like there is something. I think that there are plenty of animal mysteries unsolved. They can't all be hoaxes. There has to be something that these stories are based on. "Every myth is based on a grain of truth." So maybe if there isn't anything there now there may have been. Plus the loch is a very large deep lake with underwater caverns. Though I think sea monsters, and the myth animals from africa like mokele mbembe are more believable.

I wish the "Search" function would get fixed. :(

Nope, Nessie was nothing but a local legend that was popularized by a surgeons fake picture.

I think most researchers who actually study this say that the only way it would be real is if it lived in the ocean and came into the lake on occasion, through this "tunnel/channel" that runs through it.

I think it's real, but I don't want it to be "discovered". With all the crap going on in the world today, we need a bit of mystery in our lives.

I think it's impossible a giant dinosaur could have survived such a lot of years. It's sad, but Nessy is just a legend. :(

Is there one?

Possibly, but highly unlikely.

I claim Nessie sightings after taking a huge dump and the head is sticking out. So to each, his own.:o

It was probably an elephant swimming.

I read an article just a couple of months ago and there was a circus that went there every so often and the elephants were brought down there to swim. The picture shows why the elephant swimming would resemble the pictures/descriptions of the sightings of the loch ness monster.

You serious? Because, some of the pictures I've seen definately don't look like an elephant. It may be BS, but I think something's there.

What about the creature that is reported to live in Lake Champlain in Vermont? It supposedly looks similiar to nessie.Any thoughts on bigfoot or yeti or whatever else you want to call him?
