Superman Returns name the best thing in SR.

Oh yeah... Best thing. An actor with the right look, voice, and presence playing CLARK KENT... as well as Superman. Brandon Routh embodied everything about the role

The best thing was when the little dog was eating the other little dog.

Agreed, the music is amazing in SR.

i also liked the music very mush but IMO it would not be fair. because then the oscar should have been fot the exact songs from teh soundtrack.
you cna not gave an oscar to teh whole soundtrack since eh is using williams theme.

Thats true, and probably a big reason why it was never nominated. But Ottmans own work was stunning IMO.

Ottman's music, Brandon, the CGI, the plane sequence, the Metropolis sequence, Superman lifting NK, Superman's last scene with Jason.

The beginning credits...it was all downhill from there.

Brandon as Superman, and I also liked the 'lifting the yacht' scene.....

True, most of the haters have their own delusions, but a hater doesn't have to delude himself into believing the film was a dissapointment. Even the studio admitted that.
Umm, the studio admitted what now? That's very strange, because I seem to recall Alan Horn -- y'know, the President of Warner Bros. -- telling the Los Angeles times back in August that he felt the movie was very successful and has greenlit a sequel.

Anyway, my favorite part would have to be when Superman lifted New Krypton into space. Every time I watch that scene, I just get a "holy crap" expression.

The FX for me, fantastic FRX, the CGI is awesome.

Yeah loved that too, especially where he just has ahold of it with one hand :D

Brandon was perfect casting.

The Plane Sequence + the opening credits were the 2 best moments for me.

Not this again. What is he going to say, it was a failure. Considering that $300million domestic was the benchmark they set for a success and it fell $100 million short, I'd say it was a dissapointment. There is no rational person here, besides you I guess, that doesn't feel the numbers were a dissapointment. It is irrelevant whether you liked the movie or hated it, the numbers don't lie. A sequel is being made simply because they feel they can do better next time. It's not based on the success of Superman Returns box office.

Meet the Fockers, The Mummy Returns and Rush Hour 2 made more money than Superman Returns. Do you really think WB was happy with a Superman movie that made $200 million less than Spider-Man. They were hoping for Spider-Man numbers.

Your argument is a joke. Everyone knows it was a dissapointment, the only debate is how much of a dissapointment was it.

By the way, there are plenty of quotes from WB execs, right here on the boards where they clearly state they thought it should have done much better, and were DISSAPOINTED with the numbers. Note I never called it a failure, because it wasn't. But I doubt even the films most arduous defenders would claim that the film made as much money as the studio had hoped. It fell a minimum of $75-$100 million short of expectations. The $200 million benchmark that Horn set was after the film had been out for weeks. He saw it would probably just barely make it to $200 million so he used that as a benchmark for a sequel. He can't claim failure, his job was at stake too.

...........ANYWAYS.........

The best thing for me? quite a couple actually. Routh, Spacey, the score, the look of the movie, the lifting of NK (AMAZING), the bittersweet ending......

I love SR, so i guess the question is what did i like least...and that would be the running time, they should have shaved 15-20 min off.

The opening credits and thats about it,

well actually the opening credits were not good enough, John ottman with his ******ed skills, actually cut off the main verses off the superman march,

what an idiot !

who the hell cuts and pastes the opening march like that ?

even the ending was just as bad,
poor poor editing

The best part of SR was the concept. A continuation that deals with how people have forgotten Superman, a commentary on the public opinion of today. The execution was shaky, but there was obvious potential that SR could've been the best comic book movie ever.
