Well, SR is certainly picking up steam in India. I have seen atleast 3 news channels covering SR related news and that is the best thing to happen for a film in India. The local news channels have a huge audience and weild a lot of power when it comes to influencing tastes and opinions. Spider Man got a lot of coverage on almost all popular news channels and went on to become one of the largest hollywood grossers in India. As for SR, first it was the teaser, then the release of Superman merchandise by the cast and now its the trailer which has made it to the news channels, I also recently saw the SR Coming Soon poster in a very popular movie theater. If this publicity continues, I am sure SR would probably shatter Spidey's earnings in India. I am really pumped up for June 30, Superman is the most popular American hero in India and I am really hopeful about its prospects.

No, it is the same poster with the "S" emblem with Returns 2006 written on it. The thing is that the film is still around 7 weeks away and it is a little bit of a surprise to see the poster of a Hollywood movie so early in India, when you consider that 2 or 3 Bollywood films release every week here. So, it's a big thing in that sense.

honestly i don't see SR breaking spider-man 2 record.

But i can say one thing for sure that it will do atleast $2-4 million (US) in india.

you should remember SM and SM2 both were distributed and marketed by SONY which is a very dominant entertainment company in INDIA while WB is not.

Pretty much each and every SONY movie does well in india. And i can guarantee you that DA VINCI CODE will end up doing between $3-5 million thus beating SR.

You are right Sony has a dominant presence in India, but Warner Bros too has recently joined hands with Saregama HMV for distribution and thus things might change. As for DA Vinci Code, I am not too sure about your prediction, sure the movie has hype but it is not a movie that would attract families, and has more niche appeal. Whereas, superhero movies have a family appeal and thus do better. I guess time will be the real judge, but I fancy SR to do better than Da Vinci atleast, and with right publicity better than Spidey.

i guess having an indian actor in the movie helps aswell

Well, I think if they publicize it, it may definitely help but I don't think many are aware of this fact, don't forget not many in India have access to the internet in India and thus are not aware of the details like fans on the board. But, I think Superman's good enough on his own without needing an Indian actor to provide support.

They need to make Indian Superman Returns... oh the horror

They are promoting it in a America with a flying fat guy eating french fries. It's Superman's take on Clark Kent's take on Americans.

well in inox b'lore they have the new poster put up but they took it down i guess they were just testing it out or something :(

so when other countries show American movies, like Superman Returns, are they dubbed over in that countries language or are they just English with closed caption writing at the bottom. Also, if they do have a dubbed over version do the also have an English version?

Well they used to dub it before but now there’s a clear-cut division between the urban audience and the rural one. The urban prefer the movies as they are which is why the movies screen in the multiplexes are not dubbed but the ones in rural areas are generally dubbed and censored since they’re not that flexible to the Hollywood cinema.

he's going to kick ass lol

I know the film will most likely suck (Krrish that is) but keep in mind the one and only thing I'm truly going to be enjoying in the film is the action...

why? The action is by Tony Chiang and it's apparantly he feels a much better job done than House of Flying Daggers but not as good as Hero... at least this is how he assessed it on an NDTV interview on bits of making of the film.

The action set ups are supposed to be just classically whacked out entertaining... really damn fun and unique... Chiang's worked his ass off trying to make sure it's totally different from the regular hong kong/Chinese style stuff but keeps some of those same principles in mind... he says he loves the way it's turned out so far (he's pretty dead honest in general in his assessment of how certain action scenes turn out in film anyways) and yeah, Hrithik was one of the fastest learning pupils he's ever taught which is pretty neat in general given Hrithik has no training in any sort of formal martial arts, no gymnastics training, no speed ballet or kinetic exercise/formal sport training... he just picked up weights and has a natural ability to do things... that's one thing I totally like about the guy as an actor and why he's so much better than these *******s like Fardeen, Vivek, Bobby and every other star son.

Again, Not saying the film will be great... in all likelihood it'll suck, but the action apparantly has shaped up damn well not only for a bollywood film, but of true Tony Chiang standard which should make those huge action scenes at least a totally kick ass watch... Also note I said the big action scenes... that Chiang handled... Shyam Kaushal the other action coordinator was the main one who handles the small stunts and some of the small scale action scenes thru out the film... now those might suck, but thankfully the majority of the action isn't done by him.
