Names people don't give their kids anymore

I don't hear many kids being given Hippie names like Moonbeam and Woodstock. I grew up with the offspring of the baby boomer generation and quite a few kids had names like these.

I've gone to school with a Calvin, and worked with numerous Petes, Louises, and Henrys.

Huh, weird. I know no one by those names. My cousin was Peter but he was significantly older than I was.

my grandmother's 3rd husband's name was grover lol
my grandpa had an uncle named St. Elmo
lots of Oscars in my family

no big birds lol

I have two uncles named Norman but you dont see many in the younger generations.

Maybe it's just the area where I live, but where are all the Benjamins?

I heard about a girl named Latrina.
"That's an interesting name, Latrine."
"My family changed it in the 9th century."
"You changed it to Latrine?"
"Yeah. It used to be S***house!"

"My name is Dementia. It means 'insanity.'"
"My name is Fester. It means 'to rot.'"

"It's a good change....it's a good change!"

That reminds me, you don't see Gomez as a first name very often.

Today I met a guy whose middle name was Grassy-Meadows.

the movie i'm watching, the main character's name is Novalee Nation and her daughter?

Americus Nation

what a pleasant idea for a thread. You know, I was just wondering the other day if the name "Hermione" has come back into fashion.

How about Humphrey, Daisy or Lilith.

I have three students named Daisy and my Assistant is named Daisy as well. So

My Great Grandpappy's name was Gult, i'm thinking about bringing it back for s**ts and giggles.

Ferguson. The only person with that name I can recall was the brother on Clarissa Explains It All. It sounds old though.

All of you will be happy to know that in March when my son is born his name will be...

Jack.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

When it was time to name my son I pushed real hard for Telemachus. Not that it was what I really wanted, though I would have been very happy with it, but more so she could reject it immediately and I could plead for it them suggest what I really wanted as a compromise. There's a lesson there, youngn's.

You never meet anyone named Thelonious, which is a shame because Thelonious Monk had one of the coolest birth names in history.

Funny thing. I decided to look up Thelonious on behindthename.com, and I got one of the biggest link-runarounds you could imagine. Thelonious took me to Thelonius (notice the slightly different spelling), which is a Latinized form of Tielo/Tillo, which is a nickname for Dietrich, which is the German form of Theodoric.

What was the name you compromised on?
