National Day of Repentance! (Warning: Spoiler)

Well, from what I've seen, Christmas is kinda the default winter holiday, and Easter is actually more Pagan in origin then Christian.

Easter is essentially the celebration of Christ's resurrection. The only thing Paganistic about it is Lent, which is only acknowledged by Catholics.

Again, this is solely aimed towards religious people. Don't participate if you don't want to. I probably won't even acknowledge it, simply because I don't see why there needs to be a specific day for us Christians to repent when we essentially should be doing it every day.

Christmas is a traditionally Christian holiday. The reason why the term "The Christmas Season" is used is because it's the most widely celebrated holiday at that time.

Not if he actually takes the time to think about all the things he needs to repent for doing. So far he acts likes he's done nothing wrong.

I'm not talking just about George W. Bush. If he were a private citizen that did this before or after he was President, there would be no problem. I'm talking about any President in general. The fact that this is the President, setting aside a day for this is disturbing.

Lent? Huh, I was more talking about the name and the bunnies and eggs and stuff, but okay.

I know Christmas is a Christian holiday (anything with the word CHRIST in it's name...), I'm just saying that it's pretty much the default with the other people who don't have a religion. Hell, I'm agnostic and I still do the gift-giving and all that comes with Christmas.

Besides, what really bothers me is that Bush is making it a NATIONAL holiday. Christmas and Easter isn't so bad because that's been going on for practically centries. This, however, is a NEW holiday made up by some wierd neo-con chick from Arizona (my state, I'm some-what ashamed to say) and Bush is improving.

Hell, I'm a complete athiest and I love to celebrate Christmas :oldrazz:

I agree that it's bit weird. But if it's a national holiday, doesn't that mean we get a day off?

Most of Easter's traditions are actually adapted from an Ancient Greek fertility holiday. Even the name comes from that, as the Greek fertility goddess was "Eoster."

Never knew that. Makes sense, though.

While it is only just a holiday, I must admit, it does set a bad precedent. The Government is to in no way interfere with the goings on of any religion (unless they break the law), and no religoon is supposed to interfere with the goings on of the government.

Exactly.

What I find "Disturbing" is Where AMERICA is today...Morals, Beliefs, Politics, etc...If the Founders of America saw where we were today, they would be totally and utterly sickened by how people threw away their values...
I'm sick and tired of America just thrusting Sin Upon young children, teen, young adults, etc... "At one time, America did have a head on It's Shoulders."

Newsflash, the president doesn't have the power to force his religious and or moral view points upon the population. Our founding fathers created separation of church and state just for this reason. It's times like this that I'm ashamed to be American.

This seems appropriate...

Rammstein - Amerika

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

When there's dancing I want to lead
even if you're whirling around alone
Let yourselves be controlled a little
I'll show you how it really goes
We're making a nice round dance
Freedom is playing on all violins
Music is coming out of the White House
and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

I know moves that are very useful
and I will protect you from missteps
And whoever doesn't want to dance at the end
doesn't know yet that they must
We're making a nice round dance
I will show you the way
Santa Claus is coming to Africa
and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

We're all living in America
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in America
America, America

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, This is not a love song

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

We're all living in America
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in America
America, America

Ahhh God and Bush come together for one new kickass holiday:up:

When is this day again?

I want to know so I can have sex in a confessional and then repent for it immediately after.

Sins forgiven! W00t!

Hell, I'm a complete athiest and I love to celebrate Christmas :oldrazz:

Oh hell yeah. Giving and recieving gifts to and from your friends, what's not to love? :woot:

I agree that it's bit weird. But if it's a national holiday, doesn't that mean we get a day off?

True. But, just to f**k with them, I'll use that day to be the biggest sinner possible. :ninja:

LOL, my dad: "Yeah, Bush is gonna be really busy that day..."

Actually the Goddess of Fertility was Demeter I believe... Goddess of Fertility and Agriculture, which are similar concepts kinda...

Separation of Church and...
