National Day of Repentance! (Warning: Spoiler)

I've outgrown the child part.

But I guess some people are content with "because I said so" for the answers to their questions

Repentance means humbling yourself not just to your own thinking, but also to God. He does exist, and in the end, He will pour out righteous eternal judgment on those who refuse to seek forgiveness through Christ. We get only one shot (this mortal life) to determine where we will end up: eternally joyous with Christ, or eternally separated from Him in hell. We make the choice by whether we accept Christ as the Son of God and our Savior with our spirit; that's the kicker. Grace is actually a very simple concept. The key is accepting the fact that we don't deserve it, yet God offers it willingly. All He asks is for us to "have the faith of a child", and come to Him.

At this moment, you'll just have to believe that it's speculation b/c it will not hit the media for sometime...and I'm glad the media doesn't know. THe media twists everything! My pastor as well as pastor around the U.S. have been keeping in contact with what is going on and are organizing the event. I really can't tell you all the details, sooo just keep on speculating. I can tell you that Bush has set this to be somewhere around Apirl 2008. I know the 2 dates, but I'm most definitely not going to tell. haaaha LoLz Sorry
I take it "bearing false witness" is exempt from repentance day this coming April.

So far as I can remember, there is not one word in the Gospels in praise of intelligence.

Actually the quote is at least somewhat correct. The Bible is known to be very suspect of human reason and intellect.

Why in the world would a perfect, all-knowing god need a hell unless he planned it that way?

"Obey them completely, and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, ‘How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation!" ~Deuteronomy 4:6~

Who is "them" in the sentence?

The quote is praising obediance. How about one in praise of free-thinking?

Who is "them" in the sentence?
"Look, I now teach you these decrees and regulations just as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy. Obey them completely, and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, ‘How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation!’ For what great nation has a god as near to them as the Lord our God is near to us whenever we call on him? 8 And what great nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that I am giving you today?" ~Deuteronomy 4: 5-7~

So pretty much as Bill said (I didn't want to jump the gun), the quote praises obedience to the law and God, not free-thinking, reason and intelligence. To them intelligence is linked directly to obedience, and while I can appretiate the text in relation to it's time period. When we say intelligence today we hardly mean obedience.

Wow that's a power message. That gets my heart racing and my feet running. We don't deserve God in the first place, yet He welcomes us to live with Him after this life...All we have to do is live the life that he has called his child to live. People can do many good works, but if it isn't in His name then it would have no eternal value. Don't get me wrong, it's good to do.

Hearing this message has really made my day. Thank you man! I like it when I am reminded that I God paid the Ultimate Sacrifice for me as well as everyone on Earth.

Dude that message really gave me a boost! Being a Christian, we are tested, tested and time after time people condemn/question our beliefs. It's tough, when you constantly can't get anywhere with unbelievers and I just wanted to say that your message really hit home. Thanks dude!

Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear - Thomas Jefferson

No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says; he is always convinced that it says what he means - George Bernard Shaw

:whatever: Oh boy, god-gasm.

They should go mate, that would be the ultimate irony.

Essentially, the concept of "god" with the deist worldview is: god created the universe and then said "ooo a puppy" and followed the puppy, leaving the universe to fend for itself.

That's probably the best description of Deism I've ever heard. :woot:

It's okay, I'm sure he hates me too:csad:

he sent me a PM, it was kind of scary. i think im going to wake up tomorrow bound and gagged in the woods with a flashlight and pocket knife while he hunts me.

I remember him PMing me that time I claimed to call his coach at school...ah good times, good times.
