In Netflix's Project Power (out Aug. 14), Jamie Foxx sinks his teeth into the role of Art, who is on a mission to find the source of a mysterious drug — one that grants users temporary superpowers — and the people behind it, who have taken something very near and dear to his heart.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a New Orleans police detective who gets ensnared in the search for the source of the titular drug. When he takes it, he acquires a very useful ability for his line of work.

Dominique Fishback (left) steals many of her scenes as a fearless and gifted young woman named Robin caught up in the serious business of slinging Power and ends up a central player in the drama.

Machine Gun Kelly (a.k.a. Richard Colson Baker) is on a hot streak in Project Power as he possesses a fiery gift

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman juggled directing duties for Project Power, which is a giddy combination of a crime thriller, action movie, and comic book-style fantasy.

Just found out the writer for The Batman wrote the script. Hope it delivers!

The Batman writer writing this script definitely piques my interest in this movie. I want to get a taste of what this writer is capable of before I see the Batman. Hoping it gets good reviews, but we’ll see.

Hmm... looks like it'll be entertaining.

Found a video review of the script on YT, which has major SPOLIERS!!!!

Yay a team up! And yeah, this is visually a step up from a regular Netflix feature. Looks cool.

Did Netflix produce it from the start, or did they buy it later?
It’s to my understanding that this is a Netflix production. When Netflix wants to, they could make some dang good looking films. Mudbound, and The Irishman come to mind. Those type of movies are every bit as theater worthy as what you actually see on the big screen.

What would you risk for five minutes of pure power? On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk-taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.

Now this looks awesome and it almost seems like an even better version of Push which is a film that I have always liked, but it could have been so much better IMO, especially because of the cool concept involving super powers. I really hope this one lives up to its potential, because it already has the right ingredients from the paring of two really talented actors and the fact that its also from the directors of Nerve which is a very underrated film and Paranormal Activity 3 which is still my favorite of those films.

I also hope that after this we see JGL in more things, because damn do I miss that guy.

I was a bit worried that the film would look subpar, in terms of VFX and cinematography, but they actually look pretty decent.

At least, we have one film with superpowers to look forward to in 2020.

Man Netflix are really going for it will the action stuff this year. Enjoyed Old Guard a lot and this looks awesome as well.

They chose a really good year to step up their game.

Man, I haven’t seen Push since it came out, but I always thought the idea behind it was awesome!

Heard good things about Nerve.

Roma is another one they funded from the get that is just gorgeously cinematic.
