Fantasy Netflix's Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender General Discussion Thread

They should just remake the whole animated series again only this time use 'Studio Mir',who Netflix have done business with before (with 'Voltron:Legendary Defender' and 'Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeast') and perhaps give us that 4th season.

Netflix ain't gonna pay for the kind of animation you are wanting. Voltron and Castlevania are good examples of that.

God, they are some cheap ****s when it comes to animation. Will pay Michael Bay a gazillion for no reason, but only spend the spare change in the cushions on animation.

As much as people want to complain about She-ra's designs, it at least gave us more consistent action. Voltron was fine at first, but then you could tell when the budget died. And the praise for Castlevania's animation continues to baffle me.

Yep. The consistency of the look can go a long way on an animated show.

My brother adores Castlevania, but even he agrees it looks like trash 95% of the time, especially in season 3. The sex scenes were a new level of awful. Made already awkward scenes a special level of awkward. :funny:

God, season 3 pissed me off. Their big action scene that they were saving their budget for? Not even that great. At least season 2 had a good point that they saved the budget for...
They had to have slashed the budget again right? The way Netflix squeezes shows out is so embarrassing. What is the point of getting attached to anything on there at this point?

Yeah this is a 6 season show.

Hell even when the movie was gonna be a trilogy some of us was saying it should be 6 movies. Even taking out filler, it's a pretty dense show where you don't wanna cut too much out

I have to disagree here. The original series consisted of 20 episodes per season, each one with a 20-minute running time. A 10 episode season of +40 minutes episodes is more than enough to cover the story in 3 seasons, imo.

Plus (and I know this will probably be controversial, it's just my personal opinion) the first book can and should be trimmed/altered. Obviously not like in the movie, but it's the weakest one by far and a slight overhaul could improve it a lot.

Books 2 and 3 are perfect. Even with their filler. Don't touch those.

I thought the first 2 seasons of Castlevania looked pretty good.

Granted, I think what happened with Season 1 of Castlevania, a lot of that work had already been done long beforehand before Netflix picked it up.

As for Avatar, I hope something like Cursed is not what they are aiming for with the series.

I think one of my issues with Cursed it when it goes the darker and more mature route it just...doesn't look very good and convincing. And then you have Katherine Langford having sex with her love interest, and it's suddenly got this lame pop music playing like I've suddenly been transported into Twilight. It's definitely a show where I get tonal whiplash.

I think that one might be safe for awhile. They might see it as the big show that carries over if they really are forced to end Stranger Things with season 5.

I thought it was confirmed Stranger Things is ending with 4?

Maybe I imagined it lol I coulda sworn after season 3 came out, i read something that said the Duffer Brothers were ending it with 4.

I know this doesn’t mean much but #CancelNetflixATLALiveAction is trending on Twitter. I think Netflix should pull the plug on this show, but I don’t want to see people out of work.

Legend of Korra is out on Netflix today, and it’s rather bittersweet to have it two days after the news of creators leaving the second live action adaption came out. I’m pretty bummed to be an Avatar fan now. :(

May better days for the franchise lie ahead.

You know, in this crazy post Snyder cut world where anything is possible maybe Netflix will call them back at the table and see if they can find common ground. They cant be happy about all this bad PR around this probect now.

It doesn't take a lot for Twitter hashtag to trend. Like what? 1500 tweets or 2500 people tweeting about it? Something like that. And it's sometimes some of the most stupid banal **** ever.

I'm not saying what's happening with the Avatar series is a good thing, but this isn't enough to get it cancelled by the folks at Netflix. Not to mention all the schmucks who tweeted that would probably still watch the show anyway. Twitter is that kind of place.

Twitter is like the epicenter for hypocrites these days anyways, so I wouldn't take anything that's trending on there seriously at all no matter who or what its about.

The way I see it is that it can’t really get any worse than the live-action film. So it’s kinda whatever at this point. I’ve yet to see anything as evidence that this show will be absolute trash.

So this is still going to happen?
