I thought at first that Katie was dropped. Why would she leave BATMAN?!!?
I mean, she expressed in every interview how much enjoyment she got from making Batman Begins, why would she leave the sequel after the first films huge financial and critical success? Why would you want to leave this career role?

He is at the source of all this madness, I can sense it.![]()
blunt is just a rumor cause shes hot right now. shes not up for it.
No offence, Excel, but how do you know that?Enquiring minds...
God, why can't they just kill the Rachel Dawes character altogether (not literally kill her, just write her out of the story) and bring in a love interest from the comics? It's not like they don't have plenty to choose from.
she is not even a real love interest anyway. it's not like you go into the movie for Rachel Dawes, right?
I don't think Batman doesn't HAVE to have a love interest. I think that Catwoman or Talia would be ideal, actually.
But if Emily Blunt gets the gig, good for her. She was good as a sassy bi-curious chickin "My Summer of Love". (I feel bad for the other actress in the movie b/c Blunt is moving up FAST in Hollywood)
I alway see a vicious circle with the fans. And it always happens. It's a facinating character study on some of the people here (if they're serious).
So I say, if Blunt gets it, good for her. The Nolans already wrote the script and they know what they're doing. It's not like Rachel has a big arc with Bruce anyway (unlike Peter and Mary Jane) and pretty much, her arc closed with Begins. For pity's sakes, she wasn't a girlfriend; more like a concern childhood friend (who probably COULD get with Bruce) At this point, they can do whatever they want to do with her.
I hate recasting, but I actually prefer Bridget Moynahan taking over as Rachel Dawes.
Either way, Nolan knows what he's doing.
I agree. When I watch Nolan's other movies compared to BB, you can see that he is somewhat constrainted with it being an origin story, but those previous movies gives us a better sense of what to expect from TDK.
As fanboys, we know that Rachel is not apart of the Batman mythos and they can do anything they want with her character, but the general audience doesn't know that and for them she is part of Bruce's inner circle, so what Nolan is planning could play into his style of moviemaking and be quite shocking and emotional.
I think they should just write that role out of the movie. She was the worst part of BB.
