New Constantine Movie?

On the one hand, I like the movie and would be there for a sequel. On the other, a series on HBO proper that stayed true to Hellblazer would kill.

Giving the character a neutered NBC series and then moving him over to the least-watched Arrowverse show wasn’t really the way to build hype if that’s what they were going for.

A really faithful HBO hellblazer show could be fantastic. Constantine is a complex and interesting character.

The NBC show was really watered down. The Kenau movie was entertaining as it's own thing but not a great adaptation.

If this Keanstantine sequel happens, I hope it bombs like Matrix Resurrections. I know people like the original and I don’t mind it, but I’m sick of seeing this character mishandled. An R-rated Hellblazer show could crush it, but Zaslav would rather do a sequel to a movie that did okay at the box office almost 20 years ago because DURRR EVERYBODY LOVES JOHN WICK. Yeah, people flock to see Keanu as John Wick and ONLY as John Wick. I don’t think this movie will be a hit if it happens at all.

Yeah, not wholly confident this will happen, especially with Gunn now in charge of things.

Yeah, but Gunn’s been in his position for over two years now. The first word we got about a potential sequel was only a few months before Gunn/Safran’s hiring was announced.

There’s always a chance it doesn’t happen, but if development has continued for this long, it doesn’t strike me as something that he’s dismissive of.

I want this real bad, but they gotta get a writer who isn’t Akiva Goldsman in there.

I think he’s a bit overhated, but… keep him away.

I'm down for a sequel; I'm not a huge Constantine fan so I have no trouble sticking with this American version onscreen

Man, I love Keanu but he was so miscast.

Matt Ryan was perfect.
Some things transcend devotion to the source material, and IMO, Keanu’s Constantine is one of them.

He might not be John Constantine, Hellblazer, but there’s a mood and a tone to that film that just feels… right.

We know you wanted Jonathan Bailey. :o

In the DCU. This is Elseworlds.

Keanu’s Constantine on the big screen. Bailey’s Hellblazer on HBO. Tap tap tap, case ended. :o

Tap? I think you meant an F sir. :o

I WANT this to be true.
But, “Closer Than Ever” is, NOT a greenlight.

Hope this happens. But also hope we get a new Constantine closer to the comics.

It's not like Bad Robot was developing one for HBO or anything.

Off the charts levels of nostalgia.

Also McFarlane gotta make a Keanu figure for the 20th anniversary. He’s already doing Brzrkr figures, just give that sculpt a shave and a haircut. :o

Plus Papa Midnite, Lucifer and Tilda Swinton if he’s feeling generous.

I hope a Sequel with Keanu Reeves Constantine movie becomes a reality an Elseworld movie and Rated R
