Comics New Excalibur Question

But think about it, if he would of stayed good in the 80's where would the x-men be right now.

Goddess bless Chris Claremont!!!!

Quoting from said interview
"“Anyway, the first arc – issues 1-3, sets up the series, and the second, issues 4 and 5 addresses that particular question, while bringing Kelsey into the book as a regular character, Lionheart.”"

yay!! I loved that 5 part story in Avengers and feared her character might be forgotten!!! Meesa so happy :D

I actually hated the story in Avengers. For one thing, how in the world did Morgan best Brian when he had his omniversal god like merlin powers? He seemed to be strung up pretty easy. Also, Brian looked a bit of a nob in his long hair, furry cloak, dress getup - they should have carried on with the uniform his father left him.
I like that they are going to clear it up a bit as the whole sword/amulet choice has never been explained. If Brian was sposed to be Captain Britain anyway, then merlin should have just presented him with the sword all those years ago. And if Captain Britain is supposed to protect BRITAIN, then why'd the Avengers offer to have the new one come with them to America? Arent the powers tied to the people of Britain and get weaker the further away they get and the longer they remain away? Its a wonder she didnt bite it in Disassembled cos she should have been pretty much crawling having been out of Britain for several weeks.

You're wrong mister moore, Brian never had the Omniversal God like Merlyn powers you refer to. Brian was simply named "King of Otherworld", while Roma retained her place (and powers) as Omniversal Guardian.

Merlyn did show up and Brian chose the Amulet, it's on his series (check the Captain Britain TPB)

I thought Brian had some amazing kick arse 'more than just a reasonably strong flyer' powers when he was named King of Otherworld? I know that Roma kept her father's job going, but wasnt Brian more powerful? And why didnt Roma help him against Morgan?

I know the origin story - but what I'm saying is that why give him the choice if he was destined, sired to be the Cap Britain of all Capt Britains? What if he'd chosen the sword? Would Merlin have gone 'no, no, no - youve got it all wrong. guess again'?

See - this is why I want them to finally cover his origin, powers, purpose, role, title etc. See the other Excalibur thread for why

They are going to explain about the sword/amulet choices, so we'll see there.

About Brian and Roma. I think he didn't get any extra powers after his ascension to kinghood (hhehe). Why didn't Roma help against Morgan.... well, knowing Roma a little.. . who's to say that the whole Morgan thing wasn't a manipulative lie made to create ms Leigh? I mean, I found it very surprising to see Morgan in Otherworld just like that. My mind did not immediately race as to why didn't Roma help, but to why didn't Meggan help? Perhaps, Roma, Brian and Meggan concocted a plan, made Meggan disguise and Morgan, and so elaborate the circumstances to create a new 616 Cap Britain. It's would be too far-fetch, since Roma was responsible for tons of little manipulations to create Excalibur in the first place

the book looks really interesting and i think i going to get it. but why would they bring back dazzler and kill her off in the first ish. unless i misunderstood would he said.

They're gonna kill her, but then she'll pop up again. It's just the way of Claremont, he likes to kill his chars and bring them back, look at Betsy

This is exactly why the Hype's administrators should enable users to delete their own messages.

Yeah, i didn't even realized i posted it that many times

I thought it was a solid read. The script was pretty good. Actually, better than the norm for Claremont (of late). However, I think the readers who weren't up to date on the current state of the Marvel Universe, might be confused (per the discussion at the comic shop). Neither the less it was great to see the Dazzler back in action.

Rating: B

I give it a sold B as well.

I think that it has alot of potential to be higher than that though!

Man I gotta wait till december 7th to get it... I can't wait!!! Excalibur seems, by far, teh BEST X-Book nowadays...

Whoa whoa, not the best at all, it's only on issue 1. Anyway, it has a long way to go before it surpasses Exiles and New X-Men in my book.

I like Exiles a lot, but Excalibur has a very special place in me heart.

I love Claremont's current Uncanny run. It's just great fun.

Yeah but this is a whole different book. Because Excalibur was good doesn't mean that New Excalibur can't suck.
