My comments:
- Yes, it is a slower JF's compared to some past weeks.
- The scheduling issues with Heinberg are no surprise. The man, no matter how good a writer he is or how "nice" a guy he is, is one of a long list of TV writers who sees comic writing as a "paid hobby" and the TV gig will always come first. Marvel & DC both are well aware of this and both have several late comics to attest because of this syndrome, but both will learn nothing and continue to sacrifice integrity, as well as keeping fans waiting, in the name of "getting them cool Hollywood kids to play with us". So it really isn't worth whining about. Could someone else write the YA? Probably. Zeb Wells certainly did fine. But I'm willing to wait a little, especially if it means some issues in the can before they see print.
- Joe Q brushing off the cover question, very classy.
- What is interesting is how he comments on how "Civil War is more about the event than specific creators" yet the ENTIRE EVENT was postponed because McNiven was behind and Marvel was deathly afraid of a dreaded "fill in" artist. Isn't that slowing down an entire industry-wide event for the sake of a creative team? So which is it, Joe? Eventually, you'll have to give a straight answer. While McNiven's art is pretty, I am sure that CW would have continued to chug along fine had they chosen a fill-in artist whose style wasn't dramatically different than McNiven's; I always thought McKone was close.
- The fact that Jubilee can be easily repowered just lays bare what a pathetic waste of time DECIMATION was. The entire thing was supposed to be some "putting progress back in the bottle" or whatever he called it by depowering most of Marvel's mutants, claiming there was too many of them. But, few characters at B list were effected, and those that were almost repowered immediately (Iceman, Polaris) and naturally Magneto & Xavier will have it eventually. New mutants still pop up out of the woodwork for plot convience. And any character who needs their powers back can get 'im - POOF! So what was the point? Negating a bunch of F and lower listers and no-names? Getting scared because someone might have wanted to take some idea of Morrison's and actually get it to work? I called the event spineless last year, and it still is. If no real character is effected much, what is the point? Most of the X-titles ignored it so they needed mini's and side titles (X-FACTOR, as much as people like it, is not a main X-title). Most of the main X-Titles ignored it the best they could and went into space. Say what you will about CIVIL WAR, at least it has some cajones. Perhaps to a fault.
And while we're on Thor, nice he never mentioned how the FF PRELUDE issues are basically a sham if the real Thor isn't in CW.
- I know I certainly never asked for X-MAN to return.
