New Release Date

Mixed feelings on this, certainly seems smart business wise but they had to move forward as they couldn't push back b/c July is stacked so that doesn't tell me they have confidence just that they had no other option and Lightning is right on the message it sends the industry

If they start shooting in June instead of August it will be no more rushed than ppl thought before as it's only a 2 week shift so im not worried there

One thing to note is that if Fox cared more they would already be shooting like Spider-man 3 has been for over 6 months

If they moved further into July then why make the move at all?...would seem kind of stupid to move into an even more crowded weekend...

I like your way of thinking, the more people who say its going to fail the more of a negative vibe is put out and thats just wrong!

down with haters

Do not put me into your category of fan....

I happen to think ALL opinions are welcome, negative or positive if they are given in a well thought out manner and with respect.....

Just because someone has a negative opinion doesn't them a troll, hater, or otherwise, it makes them a person that has a different opinion than yours...

Ten bucks says this "rushed" sequel outclasses Superman Returns in every way.

This is a GREAT move. It still gives Spider-Man 3 enough room and avoids the same demographic problem with Transformers. The ONLY thing Transformers has over FF2 is the "wow" factor. Kids may want to check out something different. Since Transformers would be a new curiosity and be highly funded, it'll draw the younger crowd.

I can see a very special day next June where attending a double feature of S3 and FF2 will leave me grinning from ear to ear.

Ten bucks says it will be you that will brings more trolls our way than anyone else.....

Why can't you raise up F4 2 without tearing another movie down?....

Not quite! If message history went back that far, I'd gladly show ya! :)

I wish ya could....I'd like to see that....I honestly don't remember seeing it since July 2004....but would happily "stand corrected".

This is dissapointing news--not solely because the prep time is now shortened, but it communicates a message of fear to the industry and fanbase--as if to say FOX doesn't have faith in its product. You'd think that FF1 garnering well over $300 million would secure that confidence by now.

The studio would do well not to mention any date until they make up their minds...having moved both of these films twice makes the whole franchise look laughable.

The thing is, probably 90% of the moviegoing audience that helped bring in that 330 million will never know that the date was changed....

I am so sick and tired of people around this place thinking that the world revolves around the internet forums, and news that we get......it doesn't......it won't be put out there on any entertainment programs....ET or E will probably never ever give this change the time of day.....

THE ONLY REASON people knew of the first movies change was because of the first trailer......AND STILL I never heard one person other than people here and on some of the other forums even mention it.......

ITS a topic of conversation on these forums....NOT IN THE REAL WORLD......and that world is looking better and better everyday...

Now, will this make a difference in the movie industry.....maybe.....I don't work in the movie industry so I wouldn't know.....but I do know alot of the mainstream audience......and they don't give a ****.

Yep pretty much. I work in a videostore and let me tell you at least in my area the moviewatchers that come into there are not exactly movie industry savvy.

Not that big a deal. I said before that they would move IF they felt it was a sound financial move, not because of Transformers. Yes it does cut down on production time, and that's what worries me most. What will the movie look like.

That's what i said, they moved to June as they had no other option,i was remarking to those that think it means Fox are confident in the project b/c they moved forward not back
Personally i'd have liked to see them move it to Christmas

We knew this was coming, so why are people surprised?

It's a good move to get out of the way of Michael Bay's Transformer's. I just hope they improve upon the disappointing first film, that's all that matters, right?

Well like I said it was pretty obvious but making the release date 2 WEEKS EARLIER seemed kind of surprising considering it was already on a tight schedule.

True. I guess Rothman thinks working on a tight schedule brings out their best work...............yeah, right.

Schedule-wise if they start in June then it is only a 2 week change from the schedule we had heard of as far as filming goes, now TF and I Am Legend won't start any sooner than that for their summer 2007 tentpole releases but BB,SR, and both the Spiderman movies have had much longer productions, make of that what you will

Could ya maybe dress up the sig alittle bit...size, color, font....something? please....I love your sig....:O

It may grow and get more intense as we get closer.;)

But I still think it's a bit early for that, don't you?

This is a great move guys. Just sit back and take a look at the big picture. The more successful this film is we'll ensure FF3 and possible Silver Surfer spinoff so **** if you're complaining and think business.

Looking at the schedule I don't think Fox ever planned to keep this date. With June 15th we have 18 days of no real competition for action/adventure movies. None. With the old date we had Transformers and then Harry Potter the next week and then 10,000 BC right after that which is a mega-budget movie.

This was a good move.

Lookning at that line-up, it's a smooth move by Fox. BTW, has shooting been started for Transformers as yet?

Never to early to accesorize

OH GOD WHY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean common the july 4th release date sounded so cool for F4-2

Oh well I only hope that all the fans support this movie and help it gross atleast $27-30 million more than F4 so that we can get F4-3 where i am 100% sure we all will get SILVER SUFER and GALACTUS.

I mean ya it is true there is no other action/adventure/comicbook/family movie out there in JUNE 2007 but still who knows if F4-2 can do more than F4 considering the first one had mixed word of mouth.

ALSO i think FOX should shift F4-2 to winter time where there are no big movies scheduled.

I think it can do really well there because there is no harry potter 5, narnia 2 and no other animated movie.

what do u guyz think?????????

There are all kinds of possibilities . . . but I'd rather they make money by making a good film rather than making money by cleverly positioning a bad film.

I'd be all for them shifting it to winter . . . not because of marketing reasons, but to make sure they have plenty of time in post-production to really make an impressive film.

5 months ago I would've said Fox was being smart but not so much anymore. Transformers production has recently revealed itself to be....not so great at least in the fans' perspective. I still don't know if FF2 would've beaten them opening weekend but now I feel like it would've been a REAL contest.

But make no mistake, Fox moved it because it was afraid. Don't dilude yourselfs into thinking otherwise. They were afraid of War of the Worlds so they moved and that turned out to be a good thing. This can be a good thing too. Sometimes it's okay to be scared. They will have far less competition here than on the 4th. Besides, Transformers will be cut down pretty quick in it's second week because of the 5th Harry Potter. Now FF doesn't have to worry about that as it'll have done most of it's business by the time Potter hits theatres.

Use your brains people. It's a smart move. FF can sit back and watch Trasnformers develop. If it looks awful they can movie back but why should they. Why can't some of you understand this? FF2 would own June 15th through July 3rd. That's a long time. If they stayed with July 4th they'd be in direct competition with a big budget action film, then one week later Harry Potter. Best move Fox could have done. Very smart move. The more money it makes assures FF3 and the franchise continues. Who cares if it's releaed on the 4th because it sounds cool.

Exactly I don't understand why people don't get this. If the second one makes as much as the first and/or more it assures a third one and they can go after the July 4th release again and stand a better chance at holding it. Plus again moving it forward means ,to me at least, that they are more prepared and are ready to go. Think about it, what would you rather have done:

A movie coming out in June 2007 and start filming in June 2006 or
A movie coming out in June 2007 and start filming in August 2006 it may seem like only two months apart but you can get a lot done in those two months, time fly's.

C'mon Blades! You know thats not gonna happen around here. They would rather piss and moan that the film is gonna be ruined because production time was shortened by a whole 2 weeks. They actually thought post production would last until 11:59pm on July 3, 2007. Pathetic.

Everyone really needs to calm down, movies move off release dates all the time, especially in the summer. Keep your eyes on the summer movie schedule because I guarntee that it is far from set for 07. Would you prefer they play a game of chicken with Transformers? That would only hurt both films. Batman opened up the same weekend last year and did just fine. I mean it's not like the moved it to fall or August which would be a real sign of no faith in the film, but switiching to June 15th is simply Fox trying to do what is best for the franchise. I find it amusing how worked up everyone gets over nothing.

The same director, the same move... that doesn't bode well.

Poor FF: what a fate in the cinema for one of the best (some say the best) comicbooks ever.

Indeed it is a good financial move. But, what will we get ? Starting in June would deffently help.
