Its sad that Greg Weisman understands and gets Spiderman more than the clowns currently at Marvel animation and Marvel Comics combined.

Well in all fairness just because she isn't in that initial cast last doesn't mean she won't show up. We know Black Cat is in the show thanks to that Japanese trailer and she's not listed in that cast either.

True but Black Cat will probably just be like a guest star. Mary-Jane should be part of the main cast, it's like making a Superman animated series and not having Lois Lane be part of the main cast. And it seems in the comics Peter&Mockingbird may be a couple. You can thank Slott for that.

Is this show even in continuity with the rest of Marvel Animated Universe; Assemble, SMASH, and GoTG? I mean Ultimate Garbage-Man already exists in the universe.

I don't think it really matters. The current Marvel animation shows continuity is a mess. Its all over the place and so much does not add up.

Wolverine and the X-Men was not that beloved by net fans when it was on and was constantly trashed.

Really? Must have been compared to the 90's X-Men series. (I swear everyone treats every superhero cartoon from that era like it was even on par with BTAS from the same era). I really liked the show and was disappointed when it was cancelled after 26 episodes (especially since Spectacular was just cancelled prior, I was like "well at least I still got Wolverine and the X-Men" then BOOM... I thought Disney/Marvel were targeting me SPECIFICALLY)

Marvel was hitting it out of the park with Spectacular Spidey, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Avengers EMH in that era of animation. I loved the wildly different art styles from the shows as well. (Yes I liked Spectacular's art style, and WatX's thunder calves). Were the shows perfect? Of course not (heck as a semi fan of Cyclops WatXM did tug on me a bit), but as comic fans we'll ALWAYS find a way to nitpick SOMETHING. I think the whole "kids are stupid" mindset that current superhero animation teams have tend to ruin animated adaptions nowadays. Granted, it's EASY to get a child interested in something, but it's harder to keep them as fans as they mature, smart writing and treating your audience like they are at least SEMI intelligent does wonders, and of course makes things easier to watch WITH the child rather than just turning the TV on and retiring to the next room.

I'll give this show a chance, but you know with the current track record, I don't know. Then again DC has Justice League Action AND Teen Titans Go, so maybe this will run more similar to the former, which while it is not a MUST see where I'm rocking on the edge of my seat for a week for the next episode to come out, it is a pleasant distraction.

I agree. MJ is no doubt a very important character and she deserves to be in the main cast. But we've no idea what their intentions are with her for this show. My point about Black Cat is just to make known that there are characters not listed in that initial list that we know will be appearing later on. MJ could still be a part of it.

Off topic: yeah the whole Mockingbird thing feels incredibly forced. But like her and every other relationship that Peter has--they're doomed to fail. Marvel won't allow him to grow up. Also, they've already created his one true foil.

FTFY. :o

Marvel as a whole sucks with how they've been treating Spidey.

Yes. Since Wolverine was in the title and the leader of the X-Men in the show. It was something a lot of fans have trouble accepting since Cyclops was playing second fiddle to Wolverine in the show.

Ain't that the truth. The last decade or so has been terrible to Spider-Man, mostly thanks to the geniuses at Marvel.

To be fair, he seems to be making a comeback in films and video games. That leaves only comics and television.

Well with Quesadilla being his new mentor, I'm not gonna count on the TV series just yet. Same with the comics until Slott leaves

You guys haven't even seen the show. A clip that was revealed at WonderCon showed Spider-Man looking back at a heartfelt conversation he had with his Uncle Ben which he used as inspiration for how to deal with a conflict. I doubt Joe Quesada is his sole mentor to teach him everything he knows.

This show deserves a fair shot and I'm willing to give it one. At this point my expectations are pretty low but at times that can be a good thing.

Like all things Spider-Man, I will check this out and give it a fair shot even if I don't like the direction. But so far it does not look promising.

The simple and lacking detail character designs and backgrounds are a turn off, but even still TSSM took a similar approach and that series turned out great, so we'll see. Peter's character seems obnoxious and annoying, not a good sign. And I'm really not feeling Spidey's voice, its just not a voice I hear when I think of Spider-Man. My definitive Spider-Man voice will always be Chris Barnes, followed by Josh Keaton. At this point I'd rather have Drake Bell reprise the role.

And what is the deal with Spidey teaming up with all these other Spider-Men? I think it works when Spider-Verse kinda stuff is reserved for specials, but when you build a whole series around it you take away every thing that makes Spider-Man unique in the first place. Spider-Gwen and Miles should not be main characters in this series. Just give me a solo Spider-Man show.

Yeah that was a bit of a nit pick I had, but I would still say it is a good show. The 90's X-Men was fine and dandy, but I will say it is really...dated... granted it fared better than Spider-Man the Animated Series from the same time period, but dated all the same. Wolverine and the X-Men should have been judged on its own merits.

When referring to this show with the Spider-People

Diversity.

I don't know if I would call it THAT as every other Spider-Man and friends team up show had team mates who had diverse powers, where here they seems awfully similar. I'll have to watch this show and see how it plays out, but so far I'm unimpressed. Maybe it will be like The Batman and get better a couple seasons in...

I thought all those shows were cancelled.

Nah, still going.
Just down to the team shows to keep the awareness of them for the MCU.

just hope that the show does well enough to last for 50+ episodes. Bring on some compelling villains, invent some new ones, invent some new characters.

I like what I see so far. The Joe thing--kinda eh. But definitely willing to give this show a chance. Real excited. Maybe it's because how bad USM was.

There is no reason for this show to be in continuity with the other shows if they're not cancelled.
