Oswalt voicing Uncle Ben? :funny:

Also, they get a actor named Alastair and he isn't voicing Smythe? Missed opportunity :hehe:

Oh man, I am not down with the choice of voice actor. I know we've only seen a little of him but that voice and performance is grating.

Agree. It's not only grating it just feels... Fake. It's not a lead character voice, it's a voice actor's caricature voice.

Wasn't Dini involved with the Ultimate Spidey show?

Yeah he was a writer on the 1st two episodes and a couple of others. On a slightly off topic note, I just listened to your podcast in your sig, liked it a lot

Also off topic... Thank you. If you liked the Spidey review please listen to the others. You won't always agree with us but I hope you enjoy our company via your speakers. :woot: And please share it with others.

Hmm, I'm liking a bunch of the picks for voices in this thing. I still need to hear more of Pete, I'm not 100% sure on him yet. Also, I like the art and backgrounds, but some look like they're missing an added layer of shading. It's a bit weird.

So apparently according to the footage shown at SDCC, Joe Quesadilla's character, Joe, runs a coffee shop called Cup O Joe that Peter frequents. Joe serves as a mentor to Peter.

Yuck.

"Listen kid, marriage is fer suckers!" *bitterly downs coffee*

Quesadilla being a mentor to Peter is just, like the biggest slap in the face to all Spider-Man fans.

I think Mary-Jane not being part of the main cast is more of a slap in the face to all Spider-Man fans. Who knows maybe instead of Mary-Jane they bring in Michelle instead. :cwink:

Whys that?

Yea what's wrong with joe quesda or whatever. Isn't he a comic writer?

Ah... You aren't aware of the issue. Well... Joe, who I actually like and feel did some good stuff when he was in charge of Marvel Comics on a day to day basis, was part of those that decided that instead of having Aunt May die and thus have Peter as he's done in comics from the early days, grow, move on and experience the important moments in life we all do and deal with them accordingly... That he would erase his marriage to Mary Jane in exchange for May's life. Thus retroactively removing a huge chunk of Spider-Man history and all because Joe and some others felt that Peter being married made him in some way unrelatable. Thus instead of Peter's character naturally progressing many feel they just want to regress him. You can see it across the spectrum of how Spidey is handled, not only in the comics but in movies and TV. While only in High School for 30 issues, there's always a need to start with Peter as a high school student and never move him out of college it seems. But the truth is that as a comic book character a lot of Spider-Man's biggest stories and arcs were during his many years as a post college man. Fans have strong opinions on Joe to say the least.

Isn't Mary-Jane in the Origin Story short for the series though? I thought I saw her in the background amongst other classmates.

Considering the fact that Quesadilla himself is gonna be Peter's mentor (bleh), I think it's best that they keep MJ away from this version, considering how bastardised she's become under his quest to make Peter the eternal Single loser

If Joe's involved then there's a reason she's just in the background. :funny:

Seriously though, it's just speculation that it's MJ. So there's no confirmation if she's even in this show.

no MJ as part of the main cast?? :(

maybe they will save her for Season 2.

after all, Spectacular didn't have MJ in Season 1 ( I don't think ).
