I'm completely in love with this show. I honestly didn't love an animation tv show as much since Spectacular Spider-Man. I'm completely smitten and having a blast.

With that said and NO, this doesn't mean anything but my hunch... did you guys notice John Jameson there? Did you notice how he has fair/black skin in the show? I do think that Michele J's last name will be played out again, but with a twist. I do think she's either John Jameson's or J. Jonah Jameson's kid. Here's hoping for a great run, this show definitely deserves it. Love how it mixes up old and new mythology into its own thing.

John Jameson and Flash Thompson cameos this ep. Didn't notice the skin thing at all. I did notice they made Flash look more like he did in TASM1.

The guy who said NASA accepted his project? Didn't look black to me.

I was almost doubting myself but I've screencapped all of them and I was right:

Miles and Peter

Notice how both John and Anya have a slightly fairer skin compared to Peter and Gwen, while Miles color is even darker. They aren't as "white" as either Peter or Gwen, neither as black as Miles.

Curiously, I actually thought that Flash looked very much like a mix between traditional Flash (blonde/red hair) and Homecoming's Flash (darker shaded skin color).

Sorry Talion, but I don't see what you're seeing.

I wouldn't discount him and even JJJ being a different ethnicity, but you might be looking too into it. He calls himself John Jameson within the episode and if it's not the lighting, since barely a shade different from Alistair, then he's just a naturally tan white guy.

I'm questioning the Osborn school even more now. Something made by a student in another school using their material should be property of that school.

Norman basically said he stole it.

If you didn't like Gwen reminding Peter of something basic in TASM 2, you might like this episode even less.

Dude just saved your life, don't need to nitpick about how he did it. There was no telling that fan trick would've worked.

I think you mean john and anya has darker skin then peter and gwen.
Anya is latino.

Episode 3 thoughts/review:

Animation still looks choppy. Mixing the 'hand drawn' style with cg is off putting. With the tech today there's no excuse for the cheap look of the show.

Didn't like Gwen giving Spidey advice about how to stop the helicopter. How exactly is she more of an expert about that situation than Peter? It also makes things feel forced.

Everyone being a genius is lame. Now Herman aka Shocker is a genius. So is John Jameson.

Shocker and Clash fight is pure cringe. The dialogue is really bad and the voice acting is not good.

Gwen giving Spidey more advice? I don't like this. Peter is even asking for her input. Peter is in need of assistance constantly and with most of the major characters being so smart it makes Peter look like an idiot. It feels like the characters that are going to make the hero transition will be better at this than Peter is. This reminds me of Slott's Spider-Man and not in a good way.

And of course Gwen and Max made a compound in like two minutes to dissolve Spider-Man's Web. Uh huh. Right. They're really going overboard with the everything being science driven. It's annoying.

Gwen's uncle is the Jackal?! Very interesting. I do like how they're setting up this universe. Some good world building.

Looks like Harry is gonna be the one to create all the Goblin tech. Once again, science. Smartness! It shouldn't be that way imo.

Nice foreshadowing with Pete and Harry saying they hope to never fight like Herman and Clash.

Overall this was a better episode than the first two. But not by much. The voice acting was really good minus Peter--he still sounds too obnoxious. Really good performances from Keaton and Dimaggio. I'll give it a grade of C minus.

One thing I noticed is that we still don't have much in the way of Pete's story. So much else is going on--I hope they don't lose sight of Peter.

3-part symbiote saga drops on the same day.

Feels like we've gotten more out of Peter's origin than any other animated adaptation. This ep definitely spent more time on establishing other characters.

How did they do it? Aaahhh, nevermind.

90s cartoon is three parts.
Spectacular is four.
Ultimate is four, I think, spread between other episodes.
And now this is back to three.

They could have skipped the origin altogether and it wouldn't have been an issue. But I can see why they would want to go over it...sets up some of the major players for this series. That said, the origin episodes weren't anything special.

Going back to my point, I hope that Peter's story doesn't get lost in the mix. We already know there will be at least 3 more heroes joining the Spider-team ranks and so far all 3 of them seem like they will be better than Peter at doing the work of a hero. And imo, the voice work of Miles, Anya and Gwen is much better than Peter's. I feel like I'm going to enjoy watching them more. It's sad that in a series titled Spider-Man, Peter is the least likable character so far.

Ugh why are they showing miles so soon. Guess we'll never see Spider-Man by himself again. It'll always be miles somewhere lurking to share the spotlight. Just like in the new video game and here. They are making him an annoying character by shoe horn if him into everything now. Really sad. Might as well call this spidermen

Huh, wow, Miles is showing up already? From the descriptions I've read, I'm a bit worried about Pete's seeming over-reliance on others to give him advice too.

I'll watch this when I get the chance, buuuuut, kinda worried about what I've read plus the amount of heroes due to pop up in this series.

You get spider powers, and you get spider powers, and you get spider powers!

I haven't really like that in recent years, just how casually they throw around multiple spider people living in the same universe. In the comics there's Peter, Miles, Anya, Miguel, Kaine, Ben, Cindy, and sometimes Gwen decides to come by. It just doesn't feel right, I dunno. I miss the days when there was only one spider person in the same world, or the occasional visit from another one. It makes things like clone sagas irrelevant when there's already 20 people calling themselves Spider-something, and it just dillutes the uniqueness of it all.

After 3 episodes, I still have mixed feelings on the show. I like certain aspects of the show and some of the world building but it seems like there is way too much focus on the Horizon High stuff (and now probably Oscorp Academy). I get the show is trying to be different and stand on its own from previous versions but I'm not sure this is the way to go about it. Also don't care for Jr versions of some of the villains (Doc Ock, Shocker, etc...).

Like we had Scorpion show up for like a few minutes and boom he's dealt with. I'm fine with opening the show in a James Bond fashion with a random villain, but with someone like Scorpion I would think require a little more backstory.

While I'm fine with them introducing Miles and some of the other people, I don't like that he's about to appear with powers soon. We have an amateur Spider-Man who is now going to mentor an amateur Spider-Man. I would imagine Spider-Gwen and Arana are not much farther down the road. As UltimateWebhead said, it seems like they been be loosing focus on Peter.

The voice acting is fine (though Peter can be annoying sometimes but that's more the scripts fault than the actor). I loved Josh Keaton as Norman and couldn't even tell it was him. Liked DiMaggio as Jackal and I'm interested to see where they are going with him.

I dunno, I will continue to watch the show because its not outright insulting or jarring as USM. I think there is potential for this show to be good if not great but so far they've been taking a lot of wrong turns.

Amen. Sick of this multiple spider-people craze going on at the moment.

The only villains that got their origin told in these 3 episodes are Shocker and Clash. The rest of the guys so far might be leading up to whoever this big bad is that Smythe and Vulture were talking about.

Honestly not feeling this show at all tbh. Was hopeful after it was announced that we'd get a more Peter-centric cartoon after the team series (Ultimate Spider-Man), but instead we get the freakin Spider Power Rangers team smh. Quit shoving spider people down our throats.

Also, the voice acting is subpar, dialogue is cringe & the concept of making everyone a genius is beyond stupid. I agree with UltimateWebHead, this does feel like Slott's Spider-Man (incompetent, annoying and in constant need of help from others. Seriously, how the hell can Gwen know how to utilize his webbing better than him, plus her and Modell making a compound to dissolve it? My goodness that is just pure garbage)

Overall I give it a 3/10 so far

I've never been a fan of the multiple Spider people since it always makes Peter feel less special on principal. Especially considering Peter is just starting out as Spider-Man here, so it seems silly to introduce Miles and Arana right off the bat. At least in Ultimate Spider-Man, they waited a while before doing the alternate reality Spider avatars.

And some people like these characters, so I'm not going to say they shouldn't like them or embrace them.

Norman basically said he stole it.
True.

Indeed.

Symbiote arc in episode 7. Not bad, not rushed, I don't mind it.
Oh sweet, homage to Spider-Man 3 movie. Please be a lovable episode.

They could have waited at least one season before giving us Spider-Miles, one, just one.

You're assuming that's going to happen. With Vulture its a possibility because of the Smythe connection but with Scorpion he was completely removed from everything else. I don't mind Jackal remaining a mystery cause it does seem like they are trying to build him up.

I am surprised and impressed this show is more serialized and not episodic like Ultimate Spiderman. Jeph Loeb pretty much implied that kids are not smart enough to follow serialized shows when he first started working with Marvel Tv.

Also I hope Gwen on this show won't be Spider Gwen or any nonsense like that.
