Despite the 4 /10 Newsarama review, I'm willing to give this show a chance. I enjoyed watching all the origin shorts. Its not SSM but I was never expecting it to be.

Having seen the first two episodes, I can say that these Origin shorts are a really good indicator of the quality and tone of the series proper. If you like these shorts, you'll probably enjoy the show.

And of course there's gonna be symbiotes. Always gotta be symbiotes.

And, the way peter fights the symbiote in the Streets, in the air, reminds me of Web of Spiderman #1, where that same thing happens, i believe in the comic he is attacked by some vulture looking goons.

Good to know

Some interesting tidbits there:

Ock starting as an ally is kinda eyebrow raising to me, wonder if it's gonna be a Spider-Man 2 style fall from grace. Also looking forward to seeing Hammerhead, maybe he could be like the 'Big Man' of this iteration. Also, nice to see Sandman's daughter involved, can give him a nice sense of humanity

WEB OF SPIDER-MAN v1 #001

Is the issue this scene takes from. I actually like that issue.

Oooh, Ock starting off as a pal then enemy could make for interesting moments. Nice to see they're going with on-going plots and not just a one n' done feel for the storylines.

Vulture is really off-putting in that clip.

As is the symbiote's apparent status as a kindey-bean with eyes.

I'm not sure if I like the De-aging of Ock... I know Spectacular de -aged characters, but the characters were either always around Peter's age (Gwen, Harry, Eddie, etc), or were still legally adults (Electro, Molten Man)...So it will be...interesting...to see where they go with this

I found a couple episode titles and synopsis for them... So far looks very...High school focused.

A Day in the Life 9/23/2017 -
As the new academy gets up and running, Norman holds auditions for enrollment, which deepens the rivalry between Oz Academy and Horizon High.

Party Animals 09/25/2017 -
Horizon High throws a dance in honor of Harry being exonerated, but Norman asked Harry to stay at Osborn academy.

Digging the animated suit more than the recent Amazing Spider-Man suit (comics).

What's the consensus on this? I'm not sold. TSSM and TAS set such a great precedent, why can't they go for more of a mature feel like those shows?

Disneyfied TV shows tend to up the goof to a certain height other networks don't approach, but this could still be pretty mature.
Early review from Newsrama is not positive, but that is one source only, and a review of early episodes in the show that may have a rocky start.

Still too early to call, imo. Though I'm not impressed by the origin shorts and other clips save for one there's at least potential here for this show to be good. The biggest negative I think of here is that Peter, for the most part, is more on the annoying or obnoxious side of things. That could change though as the series progresses and he matures. And, maybe it is just me, but the show appears to have a very generic feel to it.

As for how great TSSM is, there was a time when that show had its fair share of detractors and naysayers even before the 1st episode aired. TSSM was being touted as a definitive take on Spidey before its release. Then they leaked those initial Cheek's character designs and sent everything into a negative spiral. Point being...I think we'll have a better idea after at least a handful of episodes.

Yeah there were a lot of people that immediately wrote off SSM as soon as they saw the character designs saying the show was going to be kiddie.

Has anyone else feel that the cgi things like Spider Slayers and cars (from what we've seen so far) look REALLY jarring and out of place. Is it because of the lack of shading? The clash of art styles? Or even the color contrast?
