instead of [blackout] it could be [hilite=black or anycolor]

. By that, it would make me believe that it would highlight the word black, which isn't what Blackout is.

oh, the example of code I posted was to show that you could make the "highlight" black or any other color, just like we can currently change the color of the fonts.

That's where you confused me.

As far as I know, it's not going to work like that. The reason is is because it doesn't actually affect the text in such a way as to be able to detect it and highlight it like that. All it does is change the background from white to black. Since the default text colour is black, it melds together, so you can't immediate see it. But, since it inverts the colour of the text when you highlight it manually, and white is visable over black, then you can see it like that.
