Comics New X-Men: Academy X

Well the whole "omega mutant" thing is so dodgy that I don't even think anybody at Marvel could answer that :(

As for repowering mutants, he'd have to be able to create an x-gene out of nothing as they're just regular humans. I believe they're saving that ability for Quicksilver

What I meant to ask was if he had the ability to create a mutant that has omega class potential. Not neccessarily automatically have that ability within them.

As for creating a mutant out of a human, or repowering a depowered mutant, being a mutant himself and changing his skin to gold might constitute that ability with anyone else. (from human to mutant, and adding that x-gene)

No, he can't do that. He can heal or corrupt stuff that you already have, but he can't add something you don't have.

If that were the case, then Rachel Grey should be able to do the same thing, if you remember the Savage Land arc of Uncanny like 2 years ago.

U gotta point. reshaping your dna or whatever, that takes some fine control

When Wanda got all Bendisy and caused the Decimation, she didn't just shut down every mutant's powers. She removed the entire freaking X-Gene from their DNA. Elixir can't heal that. He can reverse the effects of a power-neutralizing energy gun, but not the removal of the mutant gene. Hell, Elixir can't even reverse the Hope cure.

what is the hope cure? and that was reality warping whereas elixir and rachel can manipulate cells and other things of the body.

The hope cure was the cure from the Gifted arc, Whedon's first run on Astonishing X-Men.

And it doesn't matter if the X-genes were removed from a reality warp or not. The reality now is that those former mutants don't have the X-gene anymore, and there's nothing no one else but Wanda can do about it.

The Hope Cure was introduced in the "Gifted" arc of Astonishing X-Men. When aliens from the planet Breakworld predicted a single mutant would destroy their civilization, they sent a soldier named Ord to Earth to give human scientists a way to "cure" the mutant gene. Earth scientist Dr. Kavita Rao tested the drug on a little girl whose powers accidentally killed her own parents. Ord, in an attempt to send a message to the X-Men, cured a flying student named Wing. Elixir healed several of Wing's injuries, but couldn't give him his powers back. It is unknown if the formula for the Hope Cure was lost when Ord destroyed Dr. Rao's facility.

Just a note: Elixir's powers allowed him to accidentally reactive Wolfsbane's powers after they were taken away by a neutralizing energy gun (like the one that hit Storm back in the 80s/Mohawk days).

And about Elixir not knowing how to use his powers: I'd say that going into a semi-coma after using his powers to kill someone shows that his body can't harm people without causing harm to itself. So there seems to be a good reason why he's only been able to heal people until now.

New X-Men #31 will arrive in stores on Oct. 11 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle, with art and cover by Paco Medina.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"It¹s the end of Chris Yost and Craig Kyle's first year on New X-Men! Saying it's been a tough year is an understatement! But it¹s not over yet. The students at Xavier's still have Nimrod to deal with. And before this issue is over, another New X-Men will fall!"

New X-Men #31 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99.

sweet, ....... oh crap i have to pick up the one before this.

AHHHHHHH IT'S COMING OUT NEXT WEEK!

But...wasn't this supposed to be double-sized? 64 pages? Isn't that what it said in the interview?

Oh great, someone else is going to die.

^Seriously, ANOTHER death?

I'm not one for retconning just for the sake of doing it, but I want the next creative team's first issue to have a recap page consisting of "Yeah....so we're bringing back everybody that Yost and Kyle killed and those two can go to hell :)"

i'm still pretty numb about all the death. o well

Okay, I know I said 64 pages...obviously I don't know what I was thinking there...but yeah...going back to the issue: (in the interview posted earlier)

"The next issue is awesome but the double issue to follow [October's issue #31] I think it's the beautiful pay off to a year long story that many people have held in for," Kyle continued[...]To give their year long epic the climax it deserved, Kyle and Yost needed all of the 38 pages in "New X-Men" #31. "We were still a page long that we had to cut," Kyle said. "Once the issue was fleshed out, we realized that there was just no way we could have done it in less than 38 pages.

So I hope that preview above is lying when it says 32 pages...because that would mean they just cut out 6 pages of story.

This is way I stated about replacements. You kill all the kids what does that leave you with????

You need your supporting cast to replace members when you can no longer develop ones etc.

There's at least one score students still at the mansion apart from them.

This month on New X-Men: No one dies! (I feel gypped:cwink: )

Favourite lines:

A Cuckoo: Julian is back.
Another Cuckoo: He's very emotional right now, you may want to give him a moment.

O*N*E soldiers: DON'T YOU FREAKING MOVE!
X-23: Okay.

I was expecting to see the remaining Purifiers again; they've got issues to resolve (also, we get an explanation for why Stryker was pardoned by the Governor of New York). Looking over this whole 12-part arc, I still think it peaked in the middle, with the "Crusade" portion; the Purifiers were much more interesting as a villain than NIMROD.

I really think you should have added a spoiler tag to that. Some of the people who post in this thread will not be able to get the book as soon as others.
