So since WWH's about to wrap I thought we could all kick around guesses on what Marvel's inevitable next MU-spanning ****fest is gonna come from.

I'm betting on World War Thor, personally.

Covered in other topics, the next event for 2008 is SECRET INVASION, which sounds like a porn title. It involves Skrulls, Bendis, retcons, breaking Internets in half, and self-importance.

Actually, Marvel is now one gigantic gimmick-event. There is no more non-event Marvel. It's all one big crossover, which sort of means that it's not a crossover!

Marvel has done away with crossovers by doing away with non-crossovers! It's so postmodern and brilliant! Excelsior!

And you could switch out Marvel with DC and that statement would still be entirely true.

Minus the sarcasm, of course.

Or put in Marvel AND DC and be objective about it. But, we can't have that.

I'd like to see an event with Marvel's magic based characters....

They seem to have laid the groundwork recently with those Mystic Arcana books...

There was supposed to be some magic event in the works with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa writing a mini-series. I haven't heard anything about that in a long time, though.

Frankly, I'm incredibly disappointed in Mystic Arcana. The whole story is so far on the fringes of Marvel that it seems utterly inconsequential. At least with Annihilation they included some major, recognizable characters like the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Thanos, et al. Mystic Arcana, on the other hand, gets shafted out of Marvel's two biggest magic icons, Dr. Strange and Thor. The characters included aren't really so bad themselves, but all of their stories feel completely pointless. What do I care about some coven's reaction to the Scarlet Witch's power as a kid? (Which, by the way, I'm not real fond of Mystic Arcana retconning Wanda's Avengers Disassembled reality-warping back into her childhood, either.) Although I personally like Sir Percy of Scandia and pretty much the entire Black Knight line, what does a dusty old story from King Arthur's time really have to do with anything? Don't even get me started on the Marvel Tarot, either. Storm is now some quasi-mystic? In fact, half of the major mystics are apparently mutants now. Again, no mention of Thor or any other pantheons, either. Ugh, the whole event just blows.

I didnt buy it. Just seemed silly to have a magic thing happen at Marvel WITHOUT Dr. Strange...

I've been toying with the idea of picking them up, but now i probably wont...

Just save your money. I'll get the Sister Grimm one just because I've already made it through the first three anyway. I'll let you know how it is and then you can pity me while counting your money. :(

How about an event where the heroes unite to fight a villain, instead of beating on each other?

That event will end in the first issue when all their capes don't work under these condition.

Well, in Storm's defense, she's always had wierd spiritual leanings. But they did go a tad mutant crazy. I mean, Thor wasn't even The Chariot, which is odd because Thor is the symbol of The Chariot in the Norse tarot.

The next event should be the reckoning war by Dan Slott.

Nah, the next big event should be "Every Book Tells It's Own Stories."

Exactly... I could do without a big event for 3 years.

During which, the big event should be Kang coming back to an Avengers title. He's been gone too damn long...grrrrr

I wish. But marvel is always looking for the next event to pimp out.If there going to do that the might as well let slott tell a story he has laid the groundwork for.

Sister Grimm = those comics where some chick is on the cover dressed like ****ty Snow White or whatever, right?

Haha. I think you're thinking of Avatar's Grimm Fairy Tales.

Heh, I never thought of that. It could very well be true.

Yeah, that's the one. I think I flipped through one of 'em and was like dude the art isn't even ****ing sexy, there's just no point at all here.

So what's Sister Grimm, then?
