The Dark Knight Rises Next Viral marketing Campaign?

What would like to see in the next viral Marketing campaign?

  • A chance to get a small part in the movie once various scavenger hunts are completed.

  • Issues of the Gotham Times with more comic references.

  • Scavenger hunts in which you can actually MEET THE ACTORS!!!

  • More episodes of Gotham Tonight.

  • Anything, as long as they don’t make over two thirds of the campaign villain-centric.

  • Anything, so long as most of the campaign is villain-centric.

  • Same old format, scavenger hunts leading to IMAX showings and trailers.

  • No, it will just fill the internet with useless sites and start over-hype for a film that will fail.

  • So long as there is something worthwhile at the end of all those scavenger hunts and games.

  • None of the above, Something else.

I'm sure they'll do a Gotham Times and a Gotham Tonight again.

I'd love to see camera phone like footage of Batman fighting off or trying to get away from cops.

Personally, I do not really know if the next movie will be worth such a campaign, The Joker has told his story, Harvey Dent is no longer district attorney, and Batman is an outlaw, I do not see many more good stories to tell.

What the hell

the sooner you get tired of this the better

well The Joker isn't dead... Sadly Heath is...... they could do follow up on The Joker... mention detectives arriving to the scene of crimes only to find them solved or "disrupted" by the vigilante Batman.... I agree TDK will be hard to top with Heaths passing and Dents story being told but it is a bit close minded to think it's all over and no viral marketing could be done.... Im sure they can come up with something good and clever as long as Brett cRapner isn't directing...

So I've been thinking about my ARG compilation project (mostly how the heck am I supposed to structure this thing), and something dawned on me - you can only really do an ARG with some sort of subversive storyline or underground movement. It invites players to follow the story since they're doing something they shouldn't be doing.

In A.I. it was solving a murder that had been covered up. In Year Zero it was discovering a government conspiracy. In The International, it was discovering a conspiracy involving banks. And in TDK, it was being part of the Joker's gang and being privy to the mob corruption.

So I guess if The Riddler (or whatever villain it is) isn't up for having a large group of followers, Citizens For Batman could continue their quest to figure out their namesake - what has he been up to, did he really kill those people, etc etc. But it probably won't be as easy as that. :funny: Just something to think about.

Maybe it still involves the Joker's gang, and trying to break him out of Arkham - and then finding out that we had been double-crossed and we were really working to break Two-Face out and help him seek justice - because he is driven to give people what they deserve - and himself most of all. (not that it is good, he probably despises Gotham for idolizing him, and deep down wants to get what he deserves, not what the lies that Gordon told got him)

What about fake blogs? Like, they show up on MySpace but have real set pictures. As it is, some BatFans do great work on there. You should see Mr. Zsasz's blog, it's very well done.

They should make a citizens for the Joker website.
There is a film coming out next year called "Tripping Tommy" in which I worked on as a PA. On a day of the shoot I was used as a featured extra, and in the scene I have a "Citizens for Joker" shirt on. I felt pretty satisfied giving an endorsment for all us TDK viral fanatics out there..
