Ninja Gaiden 3

cool little teaser

but what was up with his arm? or was that just small body parts & blood just spattered across?

Finally a reboot. The 2nd game was a disaster IMO. The controls and the crappy camera angles killed it for me.

Probably has something to do with this:

"He seems to be doing something with his right hand," Hayashi teased. "Also, there's something not normal about this hand. It's covered in blood, but there's something unnatural regarding the blood."

Notice Ryu isn't using the Dragon Sword. It's the Blade of the Archfiend from NG2!

That teaser trailer for Ninja Gaiden 3 looks fantastic.
Can't wait to see more footage.

Ninja Gaiden III First Game Screens Revealed!
From article in Playstation Magazine

60 frames per second
Blood is back
Difficulty level won’t be toned down for casual gamers
There will be both competitive and cooperative modes. One or both will support up to 8 players
The store is gone. Weapons will upgrade over time
Greater emphasis on story
May feature Move support

The game appeared in this week's Weekly Famitsu where it was listed as 30% complete and due for 2012 PS3 and Xbox 360 release. Producer Yousuke Hayashi told the magazine that the game's concept is "Japanese Dark Hero."

According to the magazine's report, main character Ryu Hayabusa's right arm plays a central role in the game's story. You'll find new actions as you play through the stages, including a wall climb move and a slide.

As usual with Famitsu.com, these screens are tiny, but we should be getting a closer look at the game once E3 kicks off next week (or sooner).

Looks sweet although in that short trailer it looks exactly like Ninja Gaiden 2

So in this one is he no longer fighting endless screens of demons?

Do you have the wallpaper for that POTM cover? LOVE it.

I'm disappointed they decided not to make things easier (or at least make an easy mode) this time around. Once again general players like me are shunned away.

Really? The game isn't as hard as people make it out to be. I had real trouble in 2-3 sections of the first game and just one optional challenge in the second. You obviously never played games on the NES, now those were hard!

the NES ones were crazy hard! if not for the Game Genie, i would have never passed the game. i think the best i could with without the Game Genie was to get to either the 2nd or 3rd level.

The non-ninja characters in this game look a lot less ridiculous than they did in the last two games, which is actually kind of cool IMO. I also like the fact that they're actually putting some effort into having a good plot this time, since I honestly didn't give a crap about anything that was going on in the last two games except that I was killing lots of dudes. I really like the idea that the story deals with Ryu's sins coming back to haunt him, because when I was playing the last two games I kept thinking in the back of my head "yeah, I know he's a ninja and all, but bloodily eviscerating this many dudes has to take a toll on you down the road."

The original Ninja Gaiden games for the NES were heavily lauded for their storytelling at the time, so I look forward to seeing them get back to that in a way. I can't help but wonder if Itagaki's departure has something to do with this, since he always seemed to have a very eccentric concept of narrative in video games. You could tell that he saw himself as being a storyteller, and yet the stories in the games he produced were always incoherent messes that weren't worth paying attention to. It will be interesting if Ninja Gaiden 3 can change that, because even from that first trailer I am already more intrigued by Ryu's character than I was throughout the entirety of Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 combined.

There's enough easy games out there. Not everyone is meant to be good at everything.

Here is my preview of the game. My one hope is that there is a stronger romance in this story. Though I was a bit disappointed none of the familiar ladies from the previous games aren't there. Like where is Sonia? I dug her.

I like the idea that the game will focus sort of Ryu being a killer ninja and what that does to a person, but they actually have to do something of substance with it if they actually want to give Ryu a character arc this time. It also looks like his arm has a curse or infection on it.
