No Confirmation Yet, Is TIH2 Going to Happen?

Well it will be interesting to see what they do, cause while Avengers will book Norton, its not like he needs to be in the movie all the time, considering Hulk will probably be the nemesis at least for part of the movie, they could feasibly film a Hulk movie side by side with with the Avengers movie.

The release date will be the interesting thing because while 2011 would work best, it is already mega crowded with three big marvel movies and more than likely Batman 3, and 2010 would be too soon i think.

If they could make 2010 work, or be content with like a December release date (which won't happen) then I can see a sequel work.

Or they will just have to wait till after the Avengers, which hopefully will continue the characters upswing in popularity

The drop isn't bad, and it's appearing the film will have some legs (plus get a July 4th boost)... if you check out boxofficemojo's Hulk vs. Hulk showdown, 2008 Hulk was outgrossed each of it's first 5 days by the 2003 Hulk, Silver Surfer, and so on, but each day since it has grossed more and widened that gap. It's looking like domestically it'll end up around $140mil or so, so combined with foreign gross and what dvd sales will be, it'll turn a profit. Plus, it served it's purpose of breaking free of the 2003 Hulk's stigma.

So in my opinion, I'm thinking we'll see more Incredible Hulk.

MOST cerebral post I've read on here in a while... Thanks! I agree. I also agree with whoever said that Avengers being pushed back to 2012 makes sense and TIH2 coming the same year as IM2 and Cap. That would be the best movie year EVER!

^IM2 is 2010, Cap is 2011.
They are not the same year. :cwink:

Unlike IM, which Marvel announced a sequel after its stellar OW, we haven't heard anything about TIH2 yet. I hope Marvel is quietly planning for it behind the scenes, and not putting it on ice.

Hopefully it'll be made a year or two after The Avengers...

So Louis will direct Clash of the Titans...

That's because Marvel had thier quarterly Conference Call that Monday, if they don't announce plans for the Hulk in thier next CC, then we should hit the panic button.

my bet is on no hulk sequel. they will use him in avengers. for all you know one of the villains could be the leader.

I say he will be in The Avengers and then like a year later they will come out with TIH2

I don't think that it will get a sequel anytime soon. It's been nearly a month and it's only generated a respectable, if not magnificent, 125 million bucks domestically.

It's really a shame because I enjoyed this one alot more than Iron Man. Maybe the dvd sales will be better than average before Marvel makes a definite decision on the Hulk's fate.

they should have released the uncut version in theaters.. batman dark knight gets a 2.5 hour running time.. why not Hulk?

MS would be pretty idiotic not to do a sequel. They have a winning formula...why tamper with it? Plus, TIH has been a raging (no pun intended) success and has garnered some pretty damn good reviews. I honestly think we'll get a sequel. I mean, if you want to go by box office, TIH has a few more weeks before it'll be out of theaters, so it could easily make close to $300 million. Also, going in Marvel knew the 2003 movie would scare people away, so it's their own fault.

I know that this was the most enjoyable comic book movie that I've seen since Batman Begins. This current incarnation is really getting a bum rap...it is really GOOD.

I can't wait to pick up this DVD when it comes out so if it helps the cause to get a sequel underway, via generous sales, I'm down for that.

Besides Begins, I believe this is the best superhero movie to date. And I'm confident we'll get a sequel. Marvel knows the Hulk is popular, so why not give him a go at a franchise?

Err...guys you DO know that this film earn even LESSER than Lee Ang's hulk...worldwide at the least...

It's not looking good my friends...

It's an honest article that acknowledges the praise of TIH and the disappointment of its financial performance. Ang Lee's movie made back (domestically) about as much as the cost. With TIH pretty much on the same pace, but costing $50 million more, Marvel will unfortunately take that into account and probably withdraw from a sequel.

It's pretty obvious, though, that we will see the Hulk in the Avengers with Stark's cameo at the end of the movie. I say in a best-of-both-worlds-hope the Hulk will start off as the opposition, but will be recruited and then The Leader will be the main nemesis. Hulk probably won't even be in the movie that much considering how much his CGI performance costs, but at least he'll be seen again.

I think Marvel recognizes the love they regained for the Hulk with this reincarnation. They've done such a respectful job with IM and TIH to the fans that I seriously doubt they'll abandon the character completely.

Actually, TIH only cost $13 million more than the Hulk, not $50 million. Also, this movie still has a good few weeks left in the box office & as it stands, it's still going strong. Truthfully, Marvel needs to really think over how well a franchise for the Hulk can do & plus, they should just wait until DVD sales and everything else is set & done.

People, go see this movie once or twice more, we need that sequel. :)

I think a seuqel will be made...this film would come out a year or so before the possible Avengers movie.

I hope you're right but it's not looking good. It's on the verge of just squeaking by the first one at the b.o. so it's pretty much up to dvd sales to give it a sequel shot.

f**k the sequel, until they learn how to make the Hulk look "real" on screen, with some weight, and not just look like CGI on screen. Basically, the hulk on screen was cartoon for adults. If they could use non-cgi monsters for Hellboy, why not hulk? The people who have watched both movies that i've spoken to mentioned the same thing. The other thing with the movie was i couldn't relate banner to the hulk, no characteristic of norton for a viewer to link the characters together. Marvel dont need to spend 150m just to "almost" break-even at the local cinemas.

"We're happy with the financial results, even if they (only) reach the first film's levels," a Marvel insider insisted. "Having a sequel is not the definition of success."

Interesting quote. You can read into it in a lot of ways, but one way is that its kind of saying there won't be a sequel, but getting a sequel doesn't mean the movie was not successful :) .

The situation reminds me of the Hulk's own comic book history: his title was cancelled after six issues, and had to work his way up as a back-up player in Tales to Astonish before he really achieved stardom.

Fact is, if Guillermo del Toro can spend four or more years before Hellboy films, which aren't huge blockbusters too, so too can Louis Leterrier. The fact Hulk will be in Avengers is something I find lovely, and a good way to keep building up his reputation. He could steal the show.

True, and much like the comic book it seems that the Hulk is the biggest concern in the story. Hulk was written so inconsistent in the early years, that it's clear that the writers didn't know what to do with him, until they became comfortable writing the Savage version. Still it wasn't until Peter David started writing the Hulk, that someone finally tried to make sense of Hulk's convoluted and inconsistent past. That's when the book started reaching greater heights.

Anyone who wants to write the character, and get a good idea as to what the fans are 'really' drawn to about the character, needs to read issue #393's Samson's analysis story, PAD's entire run, Planet Hulk and World War Hulk to get the best idea how to write the most read Hulk. There are also great Savage Hulk stories that give the best idea of Hulk's thinking and reactions but as I've said before, and specially at this juncture, Savage can not be the Hulk persona that they release next(if so at all).

PLEASE MARVEL HIRE ME AS A CONSULTANT...I'LL SHOW YOU THE WAY!!! :cwink: :woot:
