No Confirmation Yet, Is TIH2 Going to Happen?

A Hulk sequel doesn't look high on Marvel's priority list right now, and honestly I think that's the right way to go. Thor, Cap, and Avengers have much greater potential right now and have no baggage unlike the Hulk franchise. I think there's even greater potential for something like Ant-Man which audiences wouldn't have any huge expectations for.

Personally I think that Marvel needs to push back Avengers to have sequels for Thor and Hulk made along with Nick Fury and Ant-Man which already have screenwriters and a director attached. I'd say push it back at least 2 years.

I wouldn't have a problem waiting that long. I'm interested in seeing the other movies marvel has planned as well, although Hulk is my absolute favorite. If we think positively, it may very well be cheaper to make another hulk movie in 4 years. but then again, maybe not with our current economic turmoil (we just might revert back to the old barting system).

Sure TiH didn't make as much dough as many thought it should or hoped it would. But Fox is considering a reboot of Daredevil and they site the apparent success of TiH as a testament that fans are willing to give studios another shot when movies underperform.

So that has to mean something positive for how people have perceived this installment of the Hulk.

Very good point.

I think part of Hulk failure was his launching date. I mean why in hell would you put Hulk between 2 Blockbusters like Iron Man and Batman TDK??? This is such a dumb move!

they should of waited till' august or so. that gives iron man, TDK, wanted, hellboy, indiana jones and star wars to take its time so hulk is left with no other compitition

Marvel said the film performed to expectations. I think DVD sales will determine where this goes from here. I always believed they made this movie not so much to be a blockbuster, but to wash out the bad taste left in a lot of people's mouths from the last film, and then word of mouth salvages the movie with video sales. I don't know if such a strategy would enter their minds so if I'm sounding like an idiot with that idea just shrug me off.

I liked Ang Lee's effort well enough...but Norton, Tyler, Roth, and Hurt knocked this film right out of the park. Marvel would have to be run by idiots for them not to pursue a sequel like crazy. I'd like to see "Avengers" as much as the next guy...but I think a wiser move would be getting the separate characters firmly established, and then bringing everything together for a 2015 release or something. Also, I'd love for Marvel and Sony to work something out, so Tobey and Kirsten could have small roles in the ensemble.

^Idiots or not, the fact is a sequel depends on the financial performance of the movie, its just a shame TIH couldnt do even as little bit more business.

People keep sighting DVD sales, but Ang's Hulk had stellar DVD sales, and that didnt get a sequel. Like it or not Marvel is a movie studio now, and DVD only ever tend to make a difference to lower budgeted fair.

I hope to god they do a sequel, but from a business point of view, I dont see how they could.

Why are they so quiet about this. Even if there won't be a sequel, they could at least confirm that.

Because loudly announcing, "There won't be another Hulk movie," wouldn't be great for DVD sales, for one thing.

The first movie is already released, so an announcement wouldn't affect it at all.

I think, out of Iron Man and TIH, TIH is actually more deserving of a sequel.

If TIH had enjoyed the same box office figures as Iron Man, I am sure a sequel would have been announced within a week of it's opening as was the case with Iron Man.

Anyone think it might be possible that since TIH is nowhere near Iron Man's box office, MS might scrap ideas for a direct sequel and save Hulk and possibly the Leader for The Avengers?

No, I don't think so :down and I'd like to see another one

Of course. The Hulk has always, besides Spider-Man, been the biggest Marvel celebrity. Like Kevin Fiege said: Those are the two characters that everyone knows.

That is like DC with Batman and Superman.

Batman has great movie success, Superman doesn’t
Spiderman has great movie success, Hulk doesn’t

I really wish they have a sequel, TIH was great there is so much more they can add in part 2. Grey hulk, rematch of Abomb and Hulk, the leader, Hulk busters, more fleet of strength.

BTY did anyone have like the vision of the Green Scar at the end of TIH? The green scar is, maybe one of the best hulk ever. Might just be me.

Well about Ironman I’m not much of a big IM fan especially after Civil war. But only thing I would look for in ironman is War machine. I don’t even care about that dumb asian guy in with the ring: Why do asian’s always have to be bad guys.

After Ang Lee's "Hulk" didn't do well at the box office, I think they tried to hard to appeal the audience, which led to "The Incredible Hulk," that despite some good intentions turned out kinda bland and generic.

I think that if they want to make this character hit big, they should "just do" a movie, without thinking too much of what appeals to the audience. Maybe make a more horror-y Hulk. Something unique. Paired with the right script, director and talent it could add some credibility to the character, because of the possible positive word of mouth.

Right now, they have to think out of the box to succeed and to not bore the audience with all these comic book adaptions. If they just make lots of "Spiderman" and "Iron Man" copycats, cookie cutter flicks, people will get sick of seeing these characters on the big screen. That's why I'm worried about the Marvel flicks and this whole "Marvel universe" and Avengers and "let's decide what we're gonna release in May 2019" stuff.

I am in complete agreement with all of this, 2012 is just too soon for an Avenger's movie, they need to establish all of the characters first, and with some, it will take more than one movie.

Marvel are going about this all wrong IMO.

Not necessarily, it just means that they speed up how quickly they release individual movies of the key players.

If you were to wait until the characters were as iconoclastic as Superman or Wolverine, we are all going to be dead before they finally release an Avenger's movie.

Ever since the late 70's to early 80's, I'd have to say that Wolverine has Marvel's #2 most popular spot under Spidey.

You must be referring to the Claremont/Byrne run on X-Men from back in the day but you're wrong unfortunately. Wolvie had cult popularity but not everyone knew him back then.

Even then The Hulk and Spidey were 1 & 2. Not only in the comics & magazines of those years make this true but the old television series had alot to do with it as well.

Not really, they can simply push back the release of Avengers to 2013 at the latest IMO. Personally I think Marvel should be doing three movies a year:

2010 - Iron Man 2, Thor, Ant-Man
2011 - Incredible Hulk 2, Captain America, Nick Fury
2012 - Thor 2, Hawkeye, Runaways
2013 - Avengers
