No Film has ever had Great three sequels in a row

Third one's usually where these trilogies start to lose steam, yes.

The difference here is that Spidey 1 is mediocre. Spidey 2 is better but still no masterpiece. So 3's not going to have a hard time topping them.

Exactly.

well the more experience raimi and the team seem to have with spidey, the better the films are, so i think this will be better than 2, but not beacuse 2 was bad

a few gerat trilogies...

back to the future, indiana jones, star wars (classics), fantomas, lord of the rings, evil dead (raimis own)...

so there are many great movies where all three parts were good-.-

This topic is nothing but opinions.

Halloween 2 was great, Halloween 3 was great (who give a **** if it didn't have Michael in it?),Halloween 4 was the best besides part 2.

Friday the 13th part 2 was great,3 was too, part 4 was also. Part 5 on the other hand was good, but not great >_>

I think people believe that the 3rd movie of a franchise won't do good. but to me that's just a coincidence, what matters is if there is the right director and actors involved with the film. many franchises have been succesful, even horror franchises. the Terminator franchise died at 3 but does that mean it was because of it being the 3rd film? no it doesn't. the Rocky franchise didn't really die until part 5. Halloween franchise didn't die until part 6 (or ressurection because they both sucked). point being that Franchises die either because of the director and actors as I said or because of what new things they come up with such as goofy stories. the Friday the 13th series in my opinion was......okay until jason goes to hell. now as for sci-fi films, predator was a film that didn't die but it had it's bad moments. now the spider-man franchise is DEFENITLEY NOT going to die at all because of the right director and actors. the spidey films without a doubt are my favorite films considering I'm a huge fan so I have a ton of confidence in this movie so that it will be called when th franchise is over the greatest superhero franchise of all time.

THANK YOU CHASETER!!!!!!

There are plenty of good trilogies out there!!!

I'm talking about the third sequel,

Definition: Third sequel means PART FOUR......

My theory is they should stop after 3, because no film trilogy has ever produced a great part 4 to it's previous 3.......

If you disagree name a successful part 1,2,3, and 4.

Star Wars got to a fourth installment and failed......

Batman couldnt even get to a great 3........

Etc, etc, etc, etc...
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was easily the best Potter film to date and subsequently the fourth film of the series.

When you have to steal plots points from Superman 3 I think you can safely say the franchise is going downhill.
The plots come from the comics and every director, writer, etc... has borrowed certain aspects of superior film making to make their film superior. There is nothing wrong with it. Hell, you could blame Superman on stealing plot points from Casablanca or any other old film...:whatever: If you think the franchise is going down hill right now, even before SM3 has come out, you need to talk to your doctor about the labotomy procedure you recently had.

what about letal weapon? Lord of the Rings?

What about Star Trek 3 which was extremely good? and 4 extremely good, and 5, and 6, and 7, which were all descent? and then part 8 which was the best one? and then 10 which was extremely good?
Lethal Weapon 4 sucked. Chris Rock was a horrible addition.

You do realize this is your opinion right? How do you know Spider-Man 4 will suck? Indiana Jones, Star Wars, James Bond, and LOTR are some examples of great sequels that many have pointed out already.

i thought it was, 2nd one is the best tho

Huh? Part 2 was enjoyable but it wasn't on the same level as the first one. Part 1 was one of the best movies of all time. Part 2 was just a good movie with special effects. It wont be remembered 20 years from now.

There, now the thread title has been proven null and void. :hyper:

Harry Potter 1
Harry Potter 2
Harry Potter 3
Harry Potter 4

Now it's double void:woot:

A lot of people did not like Harry Potter 3. Said it was too dark.

I can't speak for the Bond films though.

Has the same plot as the book:huh: Each subsequent film has also done better than the previous I believe. 3 was no where as dark as 4...people actually died in 4. The werewolf looked dumb in 3 though.

How can u say that rocky 3 wasnt good
I should beat you like a DOG!
harry potters are decent not my kind of movies but all three of them are up to par with each other infact the potter-boys seem to think they are getting better and better
lethal weapon1-2-3-4 were all good in my opinion yeah cris rock sucked as an actor but thats not the type of movie it was he was funny when he needed to be and jet li made a good villain
LOTR all three were good all three were in the oscars the third one tied with ben hur for winning the most oscars in a year
Indy temple of doom was rubbish so i can give u that 1
Matrix 3quarters through the 2nd one started to suck 3rd one sucked
X3 sucked
star wars is hard to say all though the ending of episode 6 was amazing the first half of that movie was terrible episode 5 was the best IMO but the ending is all that matters so i would put star wars on a successful trilogy list as in the original 3-episodes 4-5-6
Godfather 3 didn’t suck it was a good ending to the series but it was a boring film
Anyhow all that **** doesn’t matter
From all the footage we have seen (and we've seen quite allot) and from those of us who have read the novelization or the recap of it. Short of the silly bones thing. I don’t think this movie can miss im 94.276% sure of it

X3 trailers were awesome but the movie sucked (i doubt that is the case with s3)
but the novel sucked too so I think for the most part we know what we're getting here

also I have a feeling potc3 should be quite good aswell

I agree. I think that it's hard in today's world to keep making sequels because all the big name actors' prices go up so high....

But maybe that is a good thing. As you said, there are lots of other great characters and stories that haven't been done. But, if Spidey 3 delivers, I will be quite content (even though the Lizard is my favorite villain).

And, if the team breaks up for a few years and then comes back to make Spidey 4, I think it would probably suck.

Oh, and the LOTR films are all in my top 10 all time. But, I can't think of a really good 4th movie.

From all the footage we have seen (and we've seen quite allot)...

I feels that way, but we really haven't. Think about it. Let's assume the movie is going to be 120 minutes long (even though it may be longer). We've had 3 trailers (with lots of repeating footage) and a 7 minute clip. I'm gonna say we've seen 15 minutes at the most. So, we've seen a little over 10% of the movie. That means we haven't seen 90% of it. *shivers* that thought makes me nevous. What have they done with the other 90%??

Well ,my point was if u read the novel and match the stills from the trailers with the scenes in the novelization it seems that everything should be good we know most of whats going to happen and it seems pretty damn good. But u never know other things besides story can go south

Like poor dialogue and weak acting. After the first 30mins of X3 I don’t think I've ever seen a movie fall apart like that before, The dialogue and acting got worse and worse as the movie went on it seemed like a whole different movie after the first 30mins. I'm guessing this was due to switching directors (from the first two films) thankfully we still have the same director for spidey3 so IMO I think we should be seeing a pretty good movie

I find it funny that people here don't like some part 3s which I absolutely love.

IMO,

-X-Men 3 and Blade 3 were the best out of their series by far.
-Star Wars Ep. 3 was the best Star Wars film, surpassing the original trilogy movies.

Though, I agree with Jurrassic Park 3, Terminator 3, and Matrix 3 being utter crap compared to the first two in their series.

Also, I think Alien 3 was the worst, but Ressurection was a big improvement.
