Unless you bothered to read it prior to the update.

Within 24 hours it was shown to be a false alarm. Dude didn't even just edit his original reddit post but deleted it. Just browsing his posts it seems he does not appreciate these sites reporting on it at all. What exactly made it news? Nothing, just another negative report for a game being beaten like a dead horse. We get it, it's buggy, do we need to know about every single time somebody has a problem?

Ok everyone.. Sony WILL give you a refund on this game. Seriously.. follow the steps of the Reddit thread. Just follow these steps here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/4z3eyx/how_to_refund_no_mans_sky_digital_copy_for_ps4/

Below is my convo with the live chat.

Melissa: Hello, My name is Melissa how may I assist you today?

Me: Yes Hi
Me: I'm contacting you about a refund of a game I purchased on PSN. It's called No Man's Sky. The game lacks many features that were advertised and I've experienced multiple crashes. To the point where I actually had to uninstall it. Now I contacted Hello Games and they simply said to contact Sony for refunds. Their website even says the same "contact point of sale"

Melissa: I completely understand the frustration and apologize for the inconveniences this might have caused you. I will gladly assist you this day on checking into the possibility of a refund for you.

Melissa: Is the account you set up at the beginning of the chat, the account you need assistance with?

Me: Yes. Benstamania account.

Melissa: Thank you. One moment while I access your account.

Me: ok thank you very much Melissa: In the meantime, may I have your phone number to update our records in case we ever need to contact you?

Me: Yes - My Phone Number-

Melissa: Thanks
Melissa: Let me explain you some details about the refund process. According to the User Agreement all sales are final. Please keep in mind that it will done as onetime gesture of goodwill and funds will be returned to your PSN wallet. Is your Sign-In ID a valid email address?

Me: Yes. -My Email-
Me: Thank you very much, I understand and I am thankful for the gesture.

Melissa: Ok Benjamin, we have refuded your account 60 dollars. Thank you for being such a loyal customer and sorry for the issues you had with the game.

I read that this morning, was going to post it here right now. Glad to see it works and you got your refund Mania.

I don't know about all that, I was simply addressing your "for those who bothered to read it" remark. Many people did bother to read it, at which time there was no update or deletion.

If
it had been an actual issue with the game, it would have been a pretty major one and well worth reporting on. So as it turned out, no it wasn't a big deal and in hindsight not worth even posting about it in the first place -but with the information available at the time, yes it was absolutely worth making noise about.

I'm assuming we are out of luck if we got a physical copy.

Yeah I'd like to see what GameStop says to someone trying that.

Good point, it was needlessly snooty and I apologize fellow SSHers.

Thanks, I was shocked at how quick it was. My buddy just did it too.. His person apologized for NMS and said this was the 70th call he dealt with today on the matter.

No man's Sky Honest Trailer:

:lmao:

It's minecraft in space with a bit of a choose your own adventure element. If you go into it knowing that is what you're getting, you will have fun. If you're looking for more than that, get Elite: Dangerous.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Elite Dangerous was on sale for Xbox so I grabbed it.

Pretty good, has its issues as with any games. but just getting into it.

Wow. This might really be a widespread thing. I wonder if this comes out of just Sony's pocket, or the studio's as well.

EP Daily Rundown for August 30, 2016
Today Vic is filming the Rundown straight from Petaluma, California! We've got sad news for Gran Turismo fans, No Man's Sky universe is getting even emptier, Maze Runner 3 will begin production again, Arnold's biceps are hitting the big screen in 3D, and finally, Nintendo surprises everyone with a new 3DS design.

No Man’s Sky is looking even emptier these days. Just three weeks after launch, the massive space exploration game has found itself steeped in another big controversy. First it was the lack of online multiplayer, and now it’s the refund policy. A large number of players on the PC and PS4 are demanding refunds for the game, with Steam and the PlayStation Network forgoing their usual refund policies for some users, and enforcing them for others. Steam allows you to refund a game if you haven’t played it for more than 2 hours, while the PSN won’t officially refund a game if it’s been played at all. Some users have found workarounds for this with No Man’s Sky, saying that you have to play the game for a while before its problems become apparent. So why do so many people have a problem with No Man’s Sky? Many gamers have complained that it’s too empty, offering a massive open universe, but without enough stuff to actually do once you’re there. Some have also accused the game makers themselves of misleading the public about what No Man’s Sky has to offer, saying that the trailers made the game appear far more action-packed than the final product. It’s unclear exactly what percentage of players are unsatisfied with the game, but the PC version currently has a mere 2.9/10 user score on Metacritic. At the time we’re filming this, developer Hello Games has yet to provide an official response to the controversy.

No Man's Sky dropped to less than 1000 players on Steam about a week ago.

And now the Advertising Standards Authority is investigating for claims of false advertising.

I just checked to see, and Sean Murray hasn't updated his Twitter account since August 18th. My question is; is anyone here still playing it? It's my understanding Steam doesn't account for console gamers -only PC- so there's obviously still more than 1000 people playing the game world wide. Which isn't to say less than 1000 isn't shocking on PC alone, only that it would be interesting to get the numbers for all platforms.

The more time goes by and the more news come out is directly proportional to how happy I am that I didn't buy No Man's Sky.

This game is becoming a bit of a disaster. Can't say the studio doesn't deserve it.

At this point I'm 99% certain I've gotten more entertainment out of the train wreck surrounding No Man's Sky than I would have got from playing it.
