No Man's Sky

You're not wrong, but I can see where Tanin is coming from. The "Only on Playstation" could definitely give the impression that the Playstation console is the only place the game is available, which isn't true. I very much doubt it's going to cause any confusion though, people with both a PC and PS4 for gaming -who are interested in No Man's Sky- are probably going to be well aware the game is available on both.

It isn't only available on Playstation, but in the console market it is only available on Playstation. So everyone's kind of right.

yeah, I saw where Tanin was coming from too, I was just explaining that the "only on playstation" label isn't without merit for reasons myself and you just said.

have you never heard the term "console exclusive"?

You may not be aware of this, but the PS3 version is different from the DS version, so technically that version of the game is exclusive, so this isn't a good example.

But Tanin is right on the money, it's definitely misleading. "Only for PlayStation" is explicitly saying that it's only available on that platform(s), when it's not. MS doesn't do this with their console exclusives, they have only on Xbox and PC, for instance.

even if the versions aren't identical it is still the same game. I get what Tanin is saying but I don't consider it misleading for reasons already stated. if mS did go ahead and put "only on xbox" on their console exclusives I think it would be fine.

Uh, no, it's not. I literally just said that they weren't.

I understand that, I'm saying you're incorrect.

But they don't.

Uh, yes they are. And I am literally disagreeing here. It is Ni No Kuni for the DS, and Ni No Kuni for the Ps3. Both games have the same plots and same game engines and same development teams.
I understand that, I'm saying you're incorrect.
Then I'll conversely say you're incorrect. For consumers interested in just the console market, the label is true. And that's what matters for those consumers.
But they don't.
Which is fine, I'm saying there would not be anything wrong with it if they did.

It my understanding that the PS3 version has several differences, and is meant to be a sort of update the DS version. So, no, they aren't the same game. That's like saying Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black are the "same game." One is based on the other, sure, but they're different games. They even have different titles to distinguish this fact.

I'm not, though, this isn't really an opinion thing. The box says it's "Only for PlayStation", there's no ambiguity there, when you can get the game on the day and date with the PS4 version as far as I know. I don't know why you think PCs exist in another dimension or whatever. You're basically saying that you think a blue truck is red, and that those who are color blind won't know the difference anyway.

Which is fine, I'm saying there would not be anything wrong with it if they did.

But they don't, so it's 100% irrelevant to anything.

To me it's like saying Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin on new gen is not the same game as Dark Souls 2 on last gen. So yeah, I guess with this understanding they aren't the same games. They aren't the same exact games, so I'll agree with you to a certain extent. One isn't a sequel to the other, nor a remaster, just kind of an updated version.

What the hell? No, I never said any of that. All I am stating is that for consumers only pertaining to the console market, the label is accurate. playstation is the only platform they can play the game on. That is all.
But they don't, so it's 100% irrelevant to anything.
I was just stating my opinion...which should be just as relevant as yours, or anyone else's here.

Scholar is, from my understanding, DS2 with the DLC and a few tweaks here and there. Ni no Kuni actually has altered and new content on the PS3 from the original DS version, I think. Not quite the same thing.

I mean, it's pretty much the same thing really. You're saying that, for whatever reason, the lack of clarification doesn't matter since PC owners don't count or something, just like you would say the color blind can't see the color, so it doesn't matter that it's blue instead of red.

That is all.I was just stating my opinion...which should be just as relevant as yours, or anyone else's here.
I hate to say it, but in this case, it's really not. Yes, I understand that you're trying to say that the PC version doesn't matter to the console only folk, but that really isn't relevant. A Xbox One version of a game isn't going to matter to PS4 only users, and vice versa. So, should we put only on PlayStation for multiplat games so that PlayStation only users will know they can only play it on the console they own and not the Vita or something?

Then I suppose it's not quite the same as ninja gaiden and ninja gaiden black, either. NNK is a game available for ds and Ps3, but Ps3 is the only console you can play it on.

No it isn't, man. For a consumer like me who is interested only in the console gaming market, if a game is released on PC and 1 console, then for all intents and purposes, it is an exclusive game. There's only 1 platform available for me to play it on. That doesn't mean disrespect to the PC platform, that's just a platform I don't designate myself (and tens of millions of others) for playing games on.

The thing I'm saying here is that it is of my opinion that it would be fine if mS tagged "only on xbox" on their console exclusive games. If an Xbone version of a Ps4 game exists, then that matters to me, because it means it's not exclusive, hence there's more than one console platform to play it on.

I deleted the last few posts, I think we were starting to get a bit personal as well as off topic, partially on me. Let's keep the discussion about No Man's Sky and not on people's personal posting habits or...er, 'theories' about their fandom (and, as I said, this as much a message to myself as other posters in this case). Continue with discussion of the game, it's box or anything else.

The box art is beautiful, I feel like it captures a wide range of No Man Sky's various aspects. I also love the imagery of the solitary spaceman standing among it all, as if in awe.

Either way, it's a gorgeous picture. I hope they keep it, it'd definitely standout on the shelves next to all the grim heroes looking over their shoulders or wiping blood from the corner of their mouths.

The only thing about the game so far that worries me is once I start running into other peoples planets. You know tons of people will start naming things all stupid like.

You don't have to land on Butt Moon, you know :o

haha

I thought this was an indie game, but the fact that it is getting a retail release must mean that it's gonna get a big promo push

knowing what Me4 is gonna be capable of...I think no man's sky is gonna have a run for its money.

What is ME4 doing?

I assume it'll have a lot of planets, but they'll all be preset. With No Man's Sky, even the guys making the game don't know what will be pop up.

I'm sure it'll be a story-focused action RPG at the end of the day, too, unless they're doing some major changes to the series. No Man's Sky looks....not like that.

Just the part about both of the games having expansive explorations of planets
